Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of mitral regurgitation in patients with worsening heart failure: Insights from BIOSTAT-CHF
Matteo Pagnesi,Marianna Adamo,Iziah E Sama,Stefan D. Anker,John G.F. Cleland,John G.F. Cleland,Kenneth Dickstein,Kenneth Dickstein,Gerasimos Filippatos,Chim C. Lang,Leong L. Ng,Leong L. Ng,Piotr Ponikowski,Alice Ravera,Nilesh J. Samani,Nilesh J. Samani,Faiez Zannad,Dirk J. van Veldhuisen,Adriaan A. Voors,Marco Metra +19 more
TL;DR: The role of mitral regurgitation in the BIOlogy Study to TAilored Treatment in chronic heart failure (BIOSTAT-CHF) was investigated in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumping in Acute Decompensated Heart Failure With Hypoperfusion: From Pathophysiology to Clinical Practice
Luca Baldetti,Matteo Pagnesi,Mario Gramegna,Alessandro Belletti,Alessandro Beneduce,Vittorio Pazzanese,Francesco Calvo,Stefania Sacchi,Nicolas M. Van Mieghem,Corstiaan A. den Uil,Marco Metra,Alberto Cappelletti +11 more
TL;DR: The role of intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) in cardiogenic shock treatment remains unclear, and new (potentially more potent) mechanical circulatory supports with arguably larger device profile are emerging as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vericiguat for Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction
Carlo Lombardi,Giuliana Cimino,Matteo Pagnesi,A. DellAquila,Daniela Tomasoni,Alice Ravera,Riccardo M. Inciardi,Valentina Carubelli,Enrico Vizzardi,Savina Nodari,Michele Emdin,Alberto Aimo +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of guanylate cyclase (sGC)-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) signaling in heart failure (HF) is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Congestion in Patients with Advanced Heart Failure: Assessment and Treatment.
Carlo Lombardi,Giuliana Cimino,Pierpaolo Pellicori,Andrea Bonelli,Riccardo M. Inciardi,Matteo Pagnesi,Daniela Tomasoni,Alice Ravera,Marianna Adamo,Valentina Carubelli,Marco Metra +10 more
TL;DR: In most cases, prompt identification and management of congestion is paramount to improving symptoms and quality of life and avoiding progression to severe multiorgan dysfunction and death as mentioned in this paper. But due to aging of the population and improved therapies, only a small proportion of patients with advanced heart failure are candidates for surgical treatments, such as mechanical circulatory support or heart transplantation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determinants of the protective effect of glucocorticoids on mortality in hospitalized patients with COVID-19: Insights from the Cardio-COVID-Italy multicenter study.
Matteo Pagnesi,Riccardo M. Inciardi,Carlo Lombardi,Piergiuseppe Agostoni,Pietro Ameri,Lucia Barbieri,Antonio Bellasi,Rita Camporotondo,Claudia Canale,Valentina Carubelli,Stefano Carugo,Francesco Catagnano,Laura Adelaide Dalla Vecchia,Gian Battista Danzi,Mattia Di Pasquale,Margherita Gaudenzi,Stefano Giovinazzo,Massimiliano Gnecchi,Marco Guazzi,Annamaria Iorio,Maria Teresa La Rovere,Sergio Leonardi,Gloria Maccagni,Massimo Mapelli,Davide Margonato,Marco Merlo,Luca Monzo,Andrea Mortara,Vincenzo Nuzzi,Massimo F Piepoli,Italo Porto,Andrea Pozzi,Filippo M. Sarullo,Gianfranco Sinagra,Chiara Tedino,Daniela Tomasoni,Maurizio Volterrani,Gregorio Zaccone,Michele Senni,Marco Metra +39 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of relevant clinical and laboratory factors on the protective effect of glucocorticoids on mortality was investigated in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
