Pellitorine, a Potential Anti-Cancer Lead Compound against HL60 and MCT-7 Cell Lines and Microbial Transformation of Piperine from Piper Nigrum
Gwendoline Cheng Lian Ee,Chyi Meei Lim,Mawardi Rahmani,Khozirah Shaari,Choon Fah Joseph Bong +4 more
TL;DR: Pellitorine (1), which was isolated from the roots of Piper nigrum, showed strong cytotoxic activities against HL60 and MCT-7 cell lines and gave a new compound 5-[3,4-(methylenedioxy)phenyl]-pent-2-ene piperidine (3).
Journal ArticleDOI
Pyranocycloartobiloxanthone A, a novel gastroprotective compound from Artocarpus obtusus Jarret, against ethanol-induced acute gastric ulcer in vivo
Heyam Mohamed Ali Sidahmed,Najihah Mohd Hashim,Junaidah Amir,Mahmood Ameen Abdulla,A. Hamid A. Hadi,Siddig Ibrahim Abdelwahab,Manal Mohamed Elhassan Taha,Pouya Hassandarvish,Xinsheng Teh,Mun Fai Loke,Jamuna Vadivelu,Mawardi Rahmani,Syam Mohan +12 more
TL;DR: The results of the present study indicate that the gastroprotective effect of PA might contribute to the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties as well as the anti-apoptotic mechanism and antibacterial action against Helicobacter pylori.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alkaloids from Piper sarmentosum and Piper nigrum
Gwendoline Cheng Lian Ee,Chyi Meei Lim,Chan Kiang Lim,Mawardi Rahmani,Khozirah Shaari,Choon Fah Joseph Bong +5 more
TL;DR: Detailed chemical studies on the roots of Piper sarmentosum and Piper nigrum have resulted in several alkaloids, including a new aromatic compound, 1-nitrosoimino-2,4,5-trimethoxybenzene (1).
Journal Article
Insecticidal properties of Piper nigrum fruit extracts and essential oils against Spodoptera litura.
TL;DR: Insect development and growth index observations showed that the hexane extract had antifeedant properties resulting in severe growth inhibition of Spodoptera litura, and toxicity of extracts decreased in the order of hexane > acetone > chloroform > essential oil.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insecticidal properties of Citrus hystrix DC leaves essential oil against Spodoptera litura fabricius
TL;DR: Investigation against tobacco army worm, Spodoptera litura using topical application bioassay on uniform weighted second instar larvae showed that the essential oil had antifeedant properties resulting in severe growth inhibition of S. litura.
