Journal ArticleDOI
Carbon monoxide distributions from the IASI/METOP mission: evaluation with other space-borne remote sensors
Maya George,Cathy Clerbaux,Daniel Hurtmans,Solène Turquety,Solène Turquety,Pierre-François Coheur,Matthieu Pommier,Juliette Hadji-Lazaro,David P. Edwards,Helen M. Worden,M. Luo,Curtis P. Rinsland,W. McMillan +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the measurement vertical sensitivity of the infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) onboard the MetOp satellite and provided a first assessment of the capabilities of IASI to measure CO distributions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Decadal record of satellite carbon monoxide observations
Helen M. Worden,Merritt N. Deeter,Christian Frankenberg,Maya George,F. Nichitiu,John Worden,Ilse Aben,Kevin W. Bowman,Cathy Clerbaux,Cathy Clerbaux,Pierre-François Coheur,J. de Laat,J. de Laat,R. Detweiler,James R. Drummond,David P. Edwards,John C. Gille,Daniel Hurtmans,M. Luo,Sara Martínez-Alonso,Steven T. Massie,Gabriele Pfister,Juying Warner +22 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a comprehensive record of satellite observations from 2000 through 2011 of total column CO using the available measurements from nadir-viewing thermal infrared instruments: MOPITT, AIRS, TES and IASI.
Journal ArticleDOI
FORLI radiative transfer and retrieval code for IASI
Daniel Hurtmans,Pierre-François Coheur,Catherine Wespes,Lieven Clarisse,Oliver Scharf,Cathy Clerbaux,Cathy Clerbaux,Juliette Hadji-Lazaro,Maya George,Solène Turquety +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors lay down the theoretical bases and the methods used in the Fast Optimal Retrievals on Layers for IASI (FORLI) software, which is developed and maintained at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) with the support of the "Laboratoire Atmospheres, Milieux, Observations Spatiales" (LATMOS) to process radiance spectra from the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) in the perspective of local to global chemistry applications.

TL;DR: The Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE) mission was launched in August 2003 to sound the atmosphere by solar occultation, and the ACE-Fourier Transform Spectrometer (ACE-FTS) as discussed by the authors performs measurements in both the CO 1-0 and 2-0 rovibrational bands, from which vertically resolved CO concentration profiles are retrieved, from the mid-troposphere to the thermosphere.
