Blindness and Social Media in India

Abstract: In the present world, social networking sites offer a great platform to communicate, collaborate and socialize – personally and professionally with the world around us. According to WHO report, blind people are a significant group comprising 45 million totally blind and 285 million partially blind. This paper reviewing studies on the non (use) of social media by blind people in and out India. It examines the impediments, achievements and expectations of blind people with regard to social network sites based on past research work.

The Role Of Neuro-Imaging Techniques In Prediction Of Stroke

Abstract: At present there are many techniques and methods are used to measuring brain injuries or functions of the brain in the modern medicine scenario. A critical goal of this research study is that the stroke has classified the location and volume of the lesion for treatment. In the stroke assessment most commonly used brain imaging techniques are administered to evaluate the position of pathology and its functions. Any types of stroke it may be it will be assessed based on the Neuro-imaging methods like Computerized Tomography (CT scan), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI scan), Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), Electroencephalography (EEG), Tissue Plasminogen Activator (Tpa), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). These neuroimaging techniques are excellent technical development to the current state wherein these methods provide physiological information highly relevant to the stroke patient. And also the study is exploring how the neuroimaging techniques are making a significant impact on the neuropsychological functions of stroke patients.

Challenges faced by people living with HIV/AIDS during COVID-19 pandemic in India

Abstract: HIV/AIDS is considered as one of the most demanding public health problems faced by the country. It is a public threat and needs collective efforts in addressing the issue. In this line, a study was conducted among 30 people living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) in Chennai, Tamilnadu, India to study the challenges faced by women living with HIV/AIDS during the lockdown COVID 19 Pandemic in India. The data was collected with the support of the International Alliance for the Prevention of AIDS (IAPA) India, Chennai. In this study, descriptive research design and Simple random (lottery method) sampling technique was adopted. The researcher designed a questionnaire comprising both structured and semi structured questions along with “Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) – 21 item” standardized scale to obtain the data. The study shows that 76.7 percent of the respondents felt depressed because they do not have income to support their family needs and 53.3% shared that they are living in fear of HIV/AIDS and now during lockdown fear of survival is another painful one. Social work revolves around service, but is inherently interdisciplinary in nature. In this study Seven-Stage Crisis Intervention Model by Albert R. Roberts and Allen J. Ottens, was used for intervention. It was found after intervention that the p value of Depression, Anxiety and Stress is 0.00, which is less than the significance level of 0.05, hence the null hypothesis is rejected. Thus the results after the intervention showed that there was a visible decrease in their depression, stress and anxiety level. Abstract: Acting Under Secretary of Health requested that a working group be established to develop the Veterans Health Initiative (VHI). He envisioned this as a comprehensive program to recognize the connection between certain health effects and military service, to allow military history to be better documented, to prepare health care providers to better serve their veteran patients, and to establish a data base for further study. This was first discussed by the Acting Under Secretary in relation to the health of former prisoners of war. Development was really begun by the former Chief Academic Affairs Officer, Dr. David Stevens, with the Military Service History project. This involves a pocket card for medical residents detailing the important components of a military service history targeting the health risks associated with various periods of service and more generic issues of concern and a website containing references relevant to the issues. Educational modules in the Veterans Health Initiative VHA will assist health care providers in recognizing the connection between certain health effects and military service, prepare health care providers to better serve veteran patients, and will provide a data base for further study. This independent study is designed to provide primary care practitioners with an introduction to the pathologies that lead to sight loss, their functional implications, appropriate method of referrals, training programs, and special considerations for interactions with visually impaired individuals. After completing this independent study, participants would be able to: • Define legal blindness; • Describe the causes of sight loss; • Delineate the functional implications of vision loss • Delineate the psycho/social impact of vision loss on the veteran; • Outline the role of the Visual Impairment Services Team (VIST) in the treatment of legally blind veterans and the referral process; • Describe the special personal and environmental considerations needed for visually impaired patients; • Describe the special medical considerations needed for visually impaired patients; • Describe the primary care practitioner's role in assisting veterans in establishing well-grounded claims for disability related to the loss of vision; and • Describe compensation and pension benefits provided for veterans with eye disabilities. Abstract: Every person has an equal right to information, therefore, impairments shouldn't restrict people from gaining this knowledge from any form of source. Social Networking applications have tremendously grown their popularity among all kinds of age groups for providing socialising opportunities, entertainment and exchange of knowledge. Hence, the motive of this paper is to propose a social networking application pipeline with a strong Machine Learning backend which makes it more accessible to the blind, deaf and dumb section of the society who otherwise do not enjoy the features of social networking platforms.
