Machine Learning is the study of methods for programming computers to learn. Computers are applied to a wide range of tasks, and for most of these it is relatively easy for programmers to design and implement the necessary software. However, there are many tasks for which this is difficult or impossible. These can be divided into four general categories. First, there are problems for which there exist no human experts. For example, in modern automated manufacturing facilities, there is a need to predict machine failures before they occur by analyzing sensor readings. Because the machines are new, there are no human experts who can be interviewed by a programmer to provide the knowledge necessary to build a computer system. A machine learning system can study recorded data and subsequent machine failures and learn prediction rules. Second, there are problems where human experts exist, but where they are unable to explain their expertise. This is the case in many perceptual tasks, such as speech recognition, hand-writing recognition, and natural language understanding. Virtually all humans exhibit expert-level abilities on these tasks, but none of them can describe the detailed steps that they follow as they perform them. Fortunately, humans can provide machines with examples of the inputs and correct outputs for these tasks, so machine learning algorithms can learn to map the inputs to the outputs. Third, there are problems where phenomena are changing rapidly. In finance, for example, people would like to predict the future behavior of the stock market, of consumer purchases, or of exchange rates. These behaviors change frequently, so that even if a programmer could construct a good predictive computer program, it would need to be rewritten frequently. A learning program can relieve the programmer of this burden by constantly modifying and tuning a set of learned prediction rules. Fourth, there are applications that need to be customized for each computer user separately. Consider, for example, a program to filter unwanted electronic mail messages. Different users will need different filters. It is unreasonable to expect each user to program his or her own rules, and it is infeasible to provide every user with a software engineer to keep the rules up-to-date. A machine learning system can learn which mail messages the user rejects and maintain the filtering rules automatically. Machine learning addresses many of the same research questions as the fields of statistics, data mining, and psychology, but with differences of emphasis. Statistics focuses on understanding the phenomena that have generated the data, often with the goal of testing different hypotheses about those phenomena. Data mining seeks to find patterns in the data that are understandable by people. Psychological studies of human learning aspire to understand the mechanisms underlying the various learning behaviors exhibited by people (concept learning, skill acquisition, strategy change, etc.).

Storage and representation of reusable software components in software repositories to facilitate convenient identification and retrieval has been always a concern for software reuse researchers. This paper discusses and demonstrated an ant colony algorithm based technique that generates rules to store and then identify the component from software repository for possible reuse. Proposed technique helps user in organization and storage of components in repository and later can help in identifying most appropriate component for given context. In first stage while searching it makes use of keywords, their synonyms and their inter-relationships. Then it makes use of ant colony optimization; initial pheromone of one is assigned to all domain representative terms of components. By updating pheromone for participating terms and non-participating terms iteratively and by calculating the quality of each rule generated, it leads to quality rules to represent and retrieve the reusable components

Ant colony based rule generation for reusable software component retrieval

The article proposes the design of the framework for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET) for delivery of the authentication keys with minimum delay amongst vehicles having high mobility using fog and cloud computing. We propose to introduce fog computing to extend cloud computing by introducing an intermediate fog layer between mobile devices and cloud thus producing a number of advantages. Since the keys are provided directly from an intermediate layer, the latency is considerably reduced. In addition, the number of messages exchanged between vehicle and other elements of the VANET reduces in comparison to the existing approaches. Consequently, the resultant system is highly efficient. The design is implemented and validated using Omnetpp for single and multi vehicle system.

Watermarking Techniques and Its Applications in Tele-Health: A Technical Survey

Distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack is one of the most disastrous attacks that compromises the resources and services of the server. DDoS attack makes the services unavailable for its legitimate users by flooding the network with illegitimate traffic. Most commonly, it targets the bandwidth and resources of the server. This chapter discusses various types of DDoS attacks with their behavior. It describes the state-of-the-art of DDoS attacks. An emerging technology named “Software-defined networking” (SDN) has been developed for new generation networks. It has become a trending way of networking. Due to the centralized networking technology, SDN suffers from DDoS attacks. SDN controller manages the functionality of the complete network. Therefore, it is the most vulnerable target of the attackers to be attacked. This work illustrates how DDoS attacks affect the whole working of SDN. The objective of this chapter is also to provide a better understanding of DDoS attacks and how machine learning approaches may be used for detecting DDoS attacks.

DDoS Attacks and Defense Mechanisms Using Machine Learning Techniques for SDN

Now a days, Deep Learning has made appreciable development which introduces intelligence in machines to work like human brain. For this learning, the presence of large and balanced dataset is essential so that we can train the machines more efficiently. However finding such data in real world is rare, and creating these data sets is a complex task. So Generative Ad- versarial Networks (GANs) are used to create dataset to enhance the unsupervised learning. In this proposed work, Convolutional GAN is used for data augmentation which produces more realistic datasets and then we analyse the performance of this GAN by doing hyper-parameter tuning of opitmizers and activation functions.
