TL;DR: In this paper, an IoT-based water quality checking network has been introduced that continuously monitors and evaluates the quality of water and tries to distinguish whether it is up to the mark for general use.
Abstract: This paper dictates the damages caused by water and what can be done to resolve those issues by involving the Internet of things (IoT). Keeping the quality of water in check is today's ultimate objective. Thereby, to guarantee safe drinking water supply, the quality of water should be observed regularly. The use of IoT based solution, focused mainly on water quality monitoring has therefore been suggested. In order to support the issue, an IoT-based water quality checking network has been introduced that continuously monitors and evaluates the quality of water and tries to distinguish whether it is up to the mark for general use. This paper includes the use of specific sensors that calculates the various parameters of the quality of water which includes conductivity and dissolved oxygen (DO), turbidity, pH, and temperature. The values from the sensors have been measured and calculated using the microcontrollers. Then these processed remote values have been transmitted to the raspberry pi, the central controller which uses the Zigbee protocol. Lastly, all the data from the sensors are then accessible via cloud computing through any browser, on request.

TL;DR: The ultimate goal of this application is to notify about the calorie level in a food and monitor the amount of calorie burned after performing exercise, and the additional benefit that the app will provide is the identification of food calories you consume.
Abstract: Mobile phones are a more convenient device for people all over the world for daily activities. Apart from the ease and automation of its use, it also minimizes the overall time needed for a task manually. In contrary, to the scenario, few years back smart mobile phones were affordable and each day a new upgrade in the technology was established each day. With keeping pace with the increasing use of smart phone, we have created an android application naming it, Health Guardian. The ultimate goal of this application is to notify about the calorie level in a food and monitor the amount of calorie burned after performing exercise. The additional benefit that the app will provide is the identification of food calories you consume. The application features a monitoring system to count your daily nutrients and food consumption. The list of registered food items along with their calorie amount and other details are also recorded within the app. The early test of the app found were very helpful, as it will notify the user about the calorie level of the food and what exercise will burn out those calories. The results obtained were very positive and we look forward to increasing the users of this app throughout.

TL;DR: The Picturephone as discussed by the authors, a system that transmitted the user's image and voice simultaneously over telephone lines, would "displace today's means of communication" by century's end.
Abstract: At the 1964 New York World’s Fair, the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) unveiled a “new way of communicating.” Picturephone, a system that transmitted the user’s image and voice simultaneously over telephone lines, would “displace today’s means of communication” by century’s end. Following Ladybird Johnson’s inaugural call (fig. 1), spectators lined up for their chance at a technology that promised to end urban congestion, render travel obsolete, and save time and energy. Physical presence could be mimicked by Picturephone’s ability to convey a “feeling of proximity and intimacy with the other party.” 1 Meanwhile, AT&T prepared to spend some five hundred million dollars turning its World’s Fair exhibit into a commercial product for home and office. 2 At Bell Telephone

TL;DR: 63 research papers that examined smart home safety and security systems using the Arduino platform from popular literature databases were thoroughly surveyed and extracted useful data to answer many research questions concerning state-of-the-art applications of these systems.
Abstract: Smart home safety and security systems have gained much importance over the last few years owing to their notable impact in reducing and preventing losses in resources and human life caused by unwanted situations that could occur while homeowners are far away from their homes. To date, there is a lack of an in-depth literature analysis that could help researchers and developers better understand these systems and their applications in different contexts. It is therefore crucial that research evidence published in this area is presented. In this study, 63 research papers that examined smart home safety and security systems using the Arduino platform from popular literature databases were thoroughly surveyed to extract useful data. Then, the extracted data were analyzed to answer many research questions concerning state-of-the-art applications of these systems, their architectures, their enabling technologies, their components, etc. In addition, several challenges that these systems currently face and how future research could enable better implementation and use of these systems were discussed.

Abstract: Every day, people all around the world strive to make their lives more comfortable through technological advancements. Nobody anticipates wasting their time, effort, and money by waiting in line at a counter especially during their hospital visits. Henceforth, this paper proposed web development as a solution for the patients to schedule hospital appointments online, with doctors approving them based on their availability. The developed system aims to regulate the knowledge of patients based on doctor availability, hospital and specialist schedules, and patient appointment. The proposed system has been designed within the ASP to automate the day-to-day activities in a hospital like room activities, admission of latest patient, doctor visits. The proposed distributed resource allocation algorithm aims to search the availability of nearby hospitals to make an appointment. Similarly, once the user has registered for an appointment and if the appointment has been accepted by the appropriate doctor, the user will receive a confirmation email. The proposed model has used Visual Studio.NET 2008 environment, ASP.NET for frontend processing, and MS-SQL SERVER 2008 for backend processing.
