TL;DR: The authors examined the relation between principals' leadership and teachers' organizational commitment, mediated by distributed leadership, and found that the effect of principal's leadership on teacher's organizational commitment is mediated by the leadership of assistant principals and teacher leaders, cooperation within the leadership team, and participative decision making of teachers.
Abstract: This study examines the relation between principals’ leadership and teachers’ organizational commitment, mediated by distributed leadership. Data were collected from 1,495 teachers in 46 secondary schools. Structural equation modeling indicated that the effect of principals’ leadership on teachers’ organizational commitment is mediated by the leadership of assistant principals and teacher leaders, cooperation within the leadership team, and participative decision making of teachers. Therefore, principals should stimulate assistant principals and teacher leaders to take part in leading the school, lead the school in a collegial way with other members of the leadership team, and empower teachers to participate in school decision making.

TL;DR: In this paper, an extended framework to guide the evaluation of teachers' professional development initiatives (PDI) is provided, and an overview of measurement instruments that are currently in use is provided.
Abstract: Evaluating teachers’ professional development initiatives (PDI) is one of the main challenges for the teacher professionalisation field. Although different studies have focused on the effectiveness of PDI, the obtained effects and evaluative methods have been found to be widely divergent. By means of a narrative review, this study provides an extended framework to guide the evaluation of (the effectiveness of) PDI. Furthermore, and in accordance with this framework, an overview of measurement instruments that are currently in use is provided. The study concludes with implications for educational research and developers of PDI.
