The climatology of planetary boundary layer height in China derived fromradiosonde and reanalysis data

TL;DR: Li et al. as mentioned in this paper conducted a comprehensive investigation of the planetary boundary layer (PBL) in China from January-2011 to July-2015, using the fine-resolution sounding observations made across China and reanalysis data, and found that the boundary layer height is generally higher in spring and summer than that in fall and winter.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of diurnal variability and meteorological factors on the PM2.5 - AOD relationship: Implications for PM2.5 remote sensing.

TL;DR: The impact of meteorology could be one of the most plausible alternatives in explaining the varying R values observed, due to its non-negligible effect on MODIS AOD retrievals, as long as the aerosol diurnal cycle, along with meteorology, are explicitly considered in the future.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trans-Pacific transport of dust aerosols from East Asia: Insights gained from multiple observations and modeling

TL;DR: Observations and modeling demonstrate how a typical springtime dust episode develops and how the dust particles travel over the North Pacific Ocean all the way to North America.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the Summertime Planetary Boundary Layer with Different Thermodynamic Stability in China: A Radiosonde Perspective

TL;DR: In this paper, the occurrence frequency and spatial distribution of the convective boundary layer, neutral boundary layer (NBL), and stable boundary layer(SBL) were systematically investigated, based on intensive summertime soundings launched at 1400 Beijing time (BJT) throughout China's radiosonde network (CRN) for the period 2012 to 2016.
Journal ArticleDOI

Unraveling the relationships between boundary layer height and PM2.5 pollution in China based on four-year radiosonde measurements

TL;DR: Using the fine-resolution sounding measurements from 2014 to 2017, a significant anti-correlation between BLH and daily PM2.5 concentrations across China was revealed, independent of ROIs.
