TL;DR: In this article, the disclosure is directed to a sensor device including processing circuitry, at least one sensor coupled to the processing circuitry and memory responsive to processing circuitry including a static unique identification number.
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a sensor device including processing circuitry, at least one sensor coupled to the processing circuitry, a serial data interface coupled to the processing circuitry and memory responsive to the processing circuitry. The memory includes a static unique identification number. The serial data interface provides access to retrieve the static unique identification number and sensed data measured with the at least one sensor from the memory.

TL;DR: In this paper, a network-enabled appliance may aid the remote monitoring of various measured data, such as a variable or set of variables and output the data upon request, and the appliance may issue alarms, alerts, warning and other notifications when a variable matches a setpoint or undergoes a specified change, deviation, and/or fluctuation.
Abstract: The invention is directed to a network-enabled appliance. The appliance may aid the remote monitoring of various measured data. The device may monitor a variable or set of variables and output the data upon request. In addition, the appliance may issue alarms, alerts, warning and other notifications when a variable matches a setpoint or undergoes a specified change, deviation, and/or fluctuation. Further the appliance may be operable to communicate with other appliances. The communication may comprise periodic pinging of peer appliances. In this manner, a peer appliance may detect a failure in other network-enabled appliances when an anticipated ping is not received. Further, the communication may enable the establishment of a directory of capabilities of various appliances. In this manner, a group of appliances may perform more complex behaviors by grouping resources. Further, a group of appliances may act to reestablish the behavior of a failed device.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a system for remote monitoring of a space and equipment, which consists of network appliances, a server, and a client machine, where the server receives data from a network appliance and displays the data as a mapping, displaying icons associated with the network appliances.
Abstract: The invention is directed to a system for remote monitoring of a space and equipment. The space and equipment may, for example, be a sever room and associated network equipment. The system has network appliances, a server, and a client machine. The server receives data from a network appliance. The server may then deliver an application and data to the client machine for viewing and manipulating the data. The client machine may display the data as a mapping, displaying icons associated with the network appliances. The client machine may also graph the data. Further, the client machine may manipulate the organization of the data, the configuration settings of the network appliances, and store map and graph configurations.

TL;DR: In this article, the disclosure is directed to a system including a data management system configured to receive sensor data associated with a sensor, a monitoring system coupled to the data management systems, and an alert handling system responsive to the management system and configured to access an alert profile associated with an error object provided by the monitoring system.
Abstract: In a particular embodiment, the disclosure is directed to a system including a data management system configured to receive sensor data associated with a sensor, a monitoring system coupled to the data management system, and an alert handling system responsive to the data management system and configured to access an alert profile associated with an error object provided by the monitoring system. The monitoring system is configured to provide the error object in response to a monitoring algorithm associated with the sensor data received by the data management system.

TL;DR: A plurality of tags communicates a plurality of messages to a reader device, and the reader device can be configured based on customized configuration information, so that the tag event information provided to an application is customized for that application as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A plurality of tags communicates a plurality of messages to a reader device A message collector at the reader device collects at least a subset of the received messages, and provides the collected messages to a set of logical readers The message collector and the logical readers filter the collected messages based on configuration information provided by an associated application, and provide tag event information to the application based on the filtered messages The reader device can be configured based on customized configuration information, so that the tag event information provided to an application is customized for that application

TL;DR: In this paper, an integrated system for managing changes in regulatory and non-regulatory requirements for business activities at an industrial or commercial facility is presented. But the system is not suitable for the management of large-scale industrial environments.
Abstract: An integrated system for managing changes in regulatory and non-regulatory requirements for business activities at an industrial or commercial facility. Application of this system to environmental, health and safety activities, and to food, drug, cosmetic, and medical treatment and device activities, are discussed as examples. The system: provides one or more databases that contain information on operations and requirements concerning an activity or area of business; receives information on regulatory and non-regulatory changes that affect operations of the business; converts these changes into changes in data entry forms, data processing and analysis procedures, and presentation (by printing, electronic display and/or distribution) of data processing and analysis results to selected recipients, without requiring the services of one or more programmers to re-key and/or reformat the items affected by the change; and implements receipt of change information and dissemination of data processing and analysis results using the facilities of the Internet.

TL;DR: In this paper, a Message Storage and Deliver System (MSDS) is connected to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and receives incoming calls with these calls being facsimile, voice, or data transmissions.
Abstract: A Message Storage and Deliver System (MSDS) is connected to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and receives incoming calls with these calls being facsimile, voice, or data transmissions. The MSDS detects the type of call and stores the message signal in a database. The MSDS is also connected to the Internet and has a hyper-text transfer protocol deamon (HTTPD) for receiving requests from users. The HTTPD forwards requests for certain files or messages to a network server which transmits at least part of the message to the HTTPD and then to the user. In addition to requests for certain documents, the HTTPD may also receive a request in the form of a search query. The search query is forwarded from the HTTPD to an application program for conducting the search of the database. The results of the search are forwarded through the HTTPD to the user. The user may then select one or more files or messages from the search results and may save the search for later reference.

TL;DR: In this paper, power receptacle wireless access point (AP) devices that may be used as part of a networked (smart) living and work space are described. But these devices are not suitable for outdoor environments.
Abstract: Described herein are power receptacle wireless access point (AP) devices that may be used as part of a networked (smart) living and work space. These power receptacle wireless AP devices may be wall-mounted and/or retrofitted over existing electrical outlets or light switches, for providing wireless access to a room or region of a room. The power receptacle wireless AP device may connect via power line communication to a data connection.
