Journal ArticleDOI
Insect pest monitoring with camera-equipped traps: strengths and limitations
TL;DR: The purpose of this review is to summarize the progress made on automatic traps with a particular focus on camera-equipped traps to support the use of software and image recognition algorithms to identify and/or count insect species from pictures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved monitoring of oriental fruit moth (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) with terpinyl acetate plus acetic acid membrane lures.
Valentina Mujica,Michele Preti,Esteban Basoalto,Liliana Cichon,Eduardo Fuentes-Contreras,Wilson Barros-Parada,Wilson Barros-Parada,Greg Krawczyk,Marcelo Z. Nunes,James F. Walgenbach,Randy Hansen,Alan L. Knight +11 more
TL;DR: Optimization of these complex lures can likely further improve managers’ ability to monitor G. molesta and help to develop multispecies tortricid lures for use in individual traps.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of New Kairomone-Based Lures for Cydia pomonella (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) in Italy and USA.
TL;DR: The results suggest that the effectiveness of ‘female removal’ strategies to manage codling moth may be geographically limited and further comparisons are needed in other production regions and in walnut.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved Monitoring of Grapholita molesta (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) in Stone Fruit Orchards with a Pheromone-Kairomone Combination Lure.
TL;DR: This study proves that this combination lure can improve the monitoring and management for G. molesta in stone fruits and suggests that female-based monitoring lures should be further developed to improve management strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of multi-component non-sex pheromone blends to monitor both sexes of Cydia pomonella (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)
Michele Preti,Alan L. Knight,María Valentina Mujica,Esteban Basoalto,Sebastian Larsson Herrera,Marco Tasin,Sergio Angeli +6 more
TL;DR: Five new quaternary combination compounds when added to the 3K core blend performed similarly to the 4K lure (male, females, and total moths); further studies should expand these results through tests of these and other new blends with a range of component ratios and total loading amounts.
