Journal ArticleDOI

Australian vegetated coastal ecosystems as global hotspots for climate change mitigation

Oscar Serrano, +57 more
TL;DR: This assessment, the most comprehensive for any nation to-date, demonstrates the potential of conservation and restoration of VCE to underpin national policy development for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamics of Millenary Organic Deposits Resulting from the Growth of the Mediterranean Seagrass Posidonia oceanica

TL;DR: In this paper, Radiocarbon dating of samples yielded a range of 0-3370 years before present, and it was concluded that accretion rates are mainly controlled by local factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stable carbon isotopes in seagrasses: variability in ratios and use in ecological studies

TL;DR: Seagrass delta(13)C values reported in the Literature show variation over a range of approximately 20 parts per thousand, which points to a characteristic set of physiological, anatomical and perhaps environmental features shared by all seagrasses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of sample preparation on stable isotope ratios of carbon and nitrogen in marine invertebrates: implications for food web studies using stable isotopes.

TL;DR: Guidelines for the standardization of sample preparation protocols for isotopic analysis are proposed both for large and small marine invertebrates and recommend avoiding both acid washing and DWR, and performing lipid extraction and gut evacuation in most cases.
