TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the need to allow students to express their opinions with something more than marking the chosen answer with a cross, and consider the importance of subjective components (cognitive style, thinking style, personality, level of education, teacher-student empathy, expectations).

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the psychometric study of the Questionnaire for the Evaluation of Online University Lecturers (version D), whose purpose is to evaluate the teaching of professors who work online mode, on the basis of the previous considerations of the student.
Abstract: In this paper we present the psychometric study of the Questionnaire for the Evaluation of Online University Lecturers (version D), whose purpose is to evaluate the teaching of professors who work online mode, on the basis of the previous considerations of the student. The questionnaire has been constructed using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methodology. The particularly relevant feature of this scale is that it has been generated from the students' opinion about the characteristics that online lecturers must have in order to be considered a good teacher. In previous works we have presented the procedure that has been used to build the scale; in this we present the psychometric study of the specific questionnaire for online tutors. The sample was selected by random sampling by conglomerates, considering the Campus as a conglomerate. An exploratory factorial analysis (AFE) was carried out and subsequently a confirmatory factorial analysis (CFA). The results indicate that the constructed questionnaire has a high reliability and validity, which makes it a useful and relevant evaluation tool.

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of five factors of personality towards the evaluation of effective job performance among the academic staff of UKM has been identified, and the personality factors and dimensions of effective performance evaluation among UKM academic staff in the era of research universities.
Abstract: Implementation of the National Higher Education Strategic Plan (PSPTN) 2007 insists academic staffs to adapt to the working environment of the research university. The main challenge is to change the habits and common behaviors of work in order to be matched with the needs of research universities. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the influence of five factors of personality towards the evaluation of effective job performance among the academic staff of UKM. This quantitative study employs personality NEO-FFI measurement and Personality Related Position Requirements Form to measure the effective job performance. A total of 204 UKM academic staff was selected in this study. The overall results showed that the individual personalities predict the job performance of the academic staff by 24 percent. The results described that the all the individual personalities seemed to be important in describing the characteristics of academic staff except for neuroticism. All dimensions of an effective performance appraisal correspond to the study. This study was successfully identified the personality factors and dimensions of effective performance evaluation among UKM academic staff in the era of research universities.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined lecturer quality in public universities in Kenya using cross sectional research design and found that lecturer's professional attributes are strongly related to instructional practices with professional attributes being the most important.
Abstract: Universities play a critical in preparing human resources for sustainable development of nations. There have been persistent concerns that public universities in Kenya are producing graduates inadequately prepared to effectively transition from learning to earning. Lecturers are the core agents in facilitating the development of relevant professional competencies and skills essential for graduates’ successful transition into the workplace. The debate on the quality of the graduate cannot ignore the quality of the lecturer. The purpose of this study is to examine lecturer quality in public universities in Kenya. The study used cross sectional research design. Eight universities representing 36.0% of public universities were sampled. A stratified proportionate random sample of 1,107 third and fourth year undergraduate students responded to the study. Thirty one key informants who included deans of schools, registrars in charge of academic affairs, directors of quality assurance, and chairpersons of students’ union participated in the study. Data were collected using a questionnaire for students and interview guide for key informants. The tools were subjected to validity and reliability analysis. Quantitative data were analysed using factor analysis, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and descriptive statistics. Qualitative data were analysed using frequency counts, percentages and content analysis. The research determined two valid and reliable dimensions which accounted for 62.95% of the variations in lecturer quality. The dimensions are lecturer’s professional attributes and instructional practices with professional attributes being the most important. Lecturer’s professional attributes is strongly related to instructional practices (r = 0.597, p Article visualizations:
