Journal ArticleDOI
Office paper decorated with silver nanostars - an alternative cost effective platform for trace analyte detection by SERS.
Maria João Oliveira,Pedro Quaresma,Miguel Peixoto de Almeida,Andreia Araújo,Eulália Pereira,Elvira Fortunato,Rodrigo Martins,Ricardo Franco,Hugo Águas +8 more
TL;DR: Paper-induced aggregation of AgNPs was found to be a viable alternative to the classical salt- induced aggregation, to obtain a highly sensitive SERS substrates.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Best of Two Worlds from the Gold Catalysis Universe: Making Homogeneous Heterogeneous
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed the attempts made so far by several authors on this important topic and showed that these hybrid materials can have improved activity and selectivity and are potential choice candidates for several catalytic processes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acetylated cashew gum-based nanoparticles for the incorporation of alkaloid epiisopiloturine.
Jessica do Amaral Rodrigues,Alyne Rodrigues de Araújo,Nádia Aline de Oliveira Pitombeira,Alexandra Plácido,Miguel Peixoto de Almeida,Leiz Maria Costa Véras,Cristina Delerue-Matos,Filipe C. D. A. Lima,Augusto Batagin Neto,Regina C.M. de Paula,Judith P.A. Feitosa,Peter Eaton,José Roberto S. A. Leite,Durcilene Alves da Silva +13 more
TL;DR: Epiisopiloturine was encapsulated in acetylated cashew gum nanoparticles in order to increase solubility and allow slow release, whereas the morphology results were supported by computer simulations, and showed drug incorporation at high levels, up to 55% efficiency.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gold Nanoparticles Induce Oxidative Stress and Apoptosis in Human Kidney Cells.
Maria Enea,Eulália Pereira,Miguel Peixoto de Almeida,Ana Margarida Araújo,Maria de Lourdes Bastos,Helena Carmo +5 more
TL;DR: It is found that the larger 60 nm AuNPs, both nanospheres and nanostars, are apparently less toxic than their smaller counter parts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a Gold Nanoparticle-Based Lateral-Flow Immunoassay for Pneumocystis Pneumonia Serological Diagnosis at Point-of-Care.
Ana Luísa Tomás,Miguel Peixoto de Almeida,Fernando Cardoso,Mafalda Pinto,Eulália Pereira,Ricardo Franco,Olga Matos +6 more
TL;DR: Two strip lateral flow immunoassays (LFIA), based on the detection of specific IgM anti-P.
