A DNA test to sex most birds
TL;DR: A test based on two conserved CHD (chromo‐helicase‐DNA‐binding) genes that are located on the avian sex chromosomes of all birds, with the possible exception of the ratites (ostriches, etc.; Struthioniformes).

A DNA test to sex most birds.
TL;DR: In this paper, a test based on two conserved CHD (chromo-helicase-DNA-binding) genes that are located on the avian sex chromosomes of all birds, with the possible exception of the ratites (ostriches, etc.).
Journal ArticleDOI
Mixed-stock analysis of humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) on Antarctic feeding grounds
Natalie Schmitt,Mike C. Double,Scott Baker,Nick Gales,Simon Childerhouse,Andrea M. Polanowski,Debbie Steel,R. Craig Albertson,Carlos Olavarría,Claire Garrigue,Michael Poole,Nan Hauser,Rochelle Constantine,David J. Paton,K. Curt S. Jenner,Simon N. Jarman,Rodney Peakall +16 more
TL;DR: This study strengthens the emerging genetic and non-genetic evidence that Antarctic waters south of New Zealand and eastern Australia are used by humpback whales from both eastern Australia and the more vulnerable breeding population of New Caledonia, representing Oceania.
Journal ArticleDOI
Telemetry-based home range and habitat modelling reveals that the majority of areas important for pygmy blue whales are currently unprotected
Achmad Sahri,C Kelly Jak,Mochamad Iqbal Herwata Putra,Albertinka J. Murk,Virginia Andrews-Goff,Mike C. Double,Ron van Lammeren +6 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors predict the migratory corridors, suitable habitats and use of marine reserves by pygmy blue whales and overlap with marine traffic using Brownian Bridge Movement Models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pygmy blue whale movement, distribution and important areas in the Eastern Indian Ocean
Michele Thums,Luciana C. Ferreira,Curt Jenner,Micheline Jenner,Danielle Harris,A. Davenport,Virginia Andrews-Goff,Mike C. Double,Luciana M. Möller,Catherine R. M. Attard,Kerstin Bilgmann,Paul Thomson,Robert D. McCauley +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a combination of passive acoustic monitoring of the NW Australian coast (46 instruments from 2006 to 2019) and satellite telemetry data (22 tag deployments from 2009 to 2021) was used to quantified the pygmy blue whale distribution and important areas during their northern and southern migration.
