On the accretion origin of a vast extended stellar disk around the Andromeda galaxy
Rodrigo A. Ibata,Scott Chapman,Annette M. N. Ferguson,Geraint F. Lewis,Mike Irwin,Nial R. Tanvir +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, an inhomogenous, low-surface brightness, extended disk-like structure around the Andromeda galaxy (M31) was discovered based on a large kinematic survey of more than 2800 stars with the Keck/DEIMOS spectrograph.

Infrared Imaging Data Reduction Software and Techniques
TL;DR: The InfraRed Data Reduction 1 software package is a small ANSI C library of fast image processing routines for automated pipeline reduc- tion of infrared (dithered) observations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical Composition of Extremely Metal-Poor Stars in the Sextans Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy
Wako Aoki,Nobuo Arimoto,Kozo Sadakane,Eline Tolstoy,Giuseppina Battaglia,Pascale Jablonka,Matthew Shetrone,B. Letarte,Mike Irwin,Vanessa Hill,P. François,Kim Venn,Francesca Primas,Amina Helmi,Andreas Kaufer,M. Tafelmeyer,Thomas Szeifert,Carine Babusiaux +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the chemical abundances of six extremely metal-poor stars in the Sextans dwarf spheroidal galaxy were determined based on high resolution spectroscopy (R=40,000) with the Subaru Telescope High Dispersion Spectrograph.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carbon and nitrogen abundances of individual stars in the Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxy
Carmela Lardo,Giuseppina Battaglia,Giuseppina Battaglia,Elena Pancino,Elena Pancino,Donatella Romano,T. J. L. de Boer,Else Starkenburg,Eline Tolstoy,Mike Irwin,Pascale Jablonka,Pascale Jablonka,Monica Tosi +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the abundance ratios of red giant branch stars in the Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxy from VLT/VIMOS MOS observations at a resolving power R= 1150 at 4020 AA was derived.
