Journal ArticleDOI
The mass content of the Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxy
TL;DR: In this article, the mass content of the Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxy was determined based on a novel approach which takes into account the two distinct stellar populations present in this galaxy, which helps to partially break the well-known mass-anisotropic degeneracy present in the modelling of pressure-supported stellar systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
A spectroscopic survey of EC4, an Extended Cluster in Andromeda's halo
Michelle L. M. Collins,Scott Chapman,Mike Irwin,Rodrigo A. Ibata,Nicolas F. Martin,Annette M. N. Ferguson,Avon Huxor,Geraint F. Lewis,Alasdair Mackey,A. W. McConnachie,Nial R. Tanvir +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a spectroscopic survey of candidate red giant branch stars in the extended star cluster, EC4, discovered in the halo of M31 from our CFHT/MegaCam survey, overlapping the tidal streams, Stream Cp and Stream Cr.
New space motion of the Galactic globular cluster Palomar 5
TL;DR: In this article, a new space motion of the Galactic globular clus- ter Pal 5 has been obtained on the basis of the proper mo- tion determination from 11 Schmidt plates with a time base line of 39 years.
Book ChapterDOI
A Multi-Colour Survey For High-Redshift Quasars
TL;DR: In this article, the application of technigues which utilise all the information contained in multi-colour surveys of stellar-like objects can be employed to detect guasars over an extended redshift range.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Monitor project: Rotation periods of low-mass stars in M50
Jonathan Irwin,Jonathan Irwin,Suzanne Aigrain,Jerome Bouvier,Leslie Hebb,Simon Hodgkin,Mike Irwin,Estelle Moraux +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a time-series photometric survey of M50 (NGC 2323), a ~130 Myr open cluster, was carried out using the CTIO 4m Blanco telescope and Mosaic-II detector as part of the Monitor project.
