Journal ArticleDOI
Scenarios for 5G mobile and wireless communications: the vision of the METIS project
Afif Osseiran,Federico Boccardi,Volker Braun,Katsutoshi Kusume,Patrick Marsch,Michal Maternia,Olav Queseth,Malte Schellmann,Hans D. Schotten,Hidekazu Taoka,Hugo Tullberg,Mikko A. Uusitalo,Bogdan Timus,Mikael Fallgren +13 more
TL;DR: This article describes the scenarios identified for the purpose of driving the 5G research direction and gives initial directions for the technology components that will allow the fulfillment of the requirements of the identified 5G scenarios.
Journal ArticleDOI
Signal-space projection method for separating MEG or EEG into components.
TL;DR: In this work, the signal-space projection (SSP) method, the signals measured by d sensors are considered to form a time-varying vector in a d-dimensional signal space, which is a measure of similarity of the equivalence classes in signal space and a way to characterise the separability of sources.
Journal ArticleDOI
Signal-space projections of MEG data characterize both distributed and well-localized neuronal sources
Claudia D. Tesche,Mikko A. Uusitalo,Risto J. Ilmoniemi,Risto J. Ilmoniemi,Minna Huotilainen,M. Kajola,Oili Salonen +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that SSP is particularly useful for the description of multiple sources of distributed activity and for the comparison of the strengths of specific neuronal sources under a variety of different paradigms or subject conditions.
EU FP7 INFSO-ICT-317669 METIS, D1.1 Scenarios, requirements and KPIs for 5G mobile and wireless system
Petar Popovsk,Volker Brau,Hans-Peter Mayer,Peter Fertl,Zhe Ren,David Gonzales-Serrano,Erik G. Ström,Tommy Svensson,Hidekazu Taoka,Patrick Agyapong,Anass Benjebbour,Gerd Zimmermann,Juha Meinila,Juha Ylitalo,Tommi Jamsa,Pekka Kyosti,Konstantinos Dimou,Mikael Fallgren,Yngve Selén,Bogdan Timus,Hugo Tullberg,Malte Schellmann,Yuxiang Wu,Martin C. Schubert,Du Ho Kang,Jan Markendahl,Claes Beckman,Mikko A. Uusitalo,Osman Nuri Can Yilmaz,Carl Wijting,Zexian Li,Patrick Marsch,Krystian Pawlak,Jaakko Vihriala,Alexandre Gouraud,Sebastien Jeux,Mauro Boldi,Gian Michele Dell'Aera,Bruno Melis,Hans D. Schotten,Panagiotis Spapis,Alex Kaloxylos,Konstantinos Chatzikokolakis +42 more
TL;DR: The deliverable will not only serve as the guideline for the technical work and system concept design in METIS, but also can serve in external research communities to help to harmonize the work towards the future radio access system including the new generation system of 5G.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
License-exempt LTE deployment in heterogeneous network
Rapeepat Ratasuk,Mikko A. Uusitalo,Nitin Mangalvedhe,Antti Sorri,Sassan Iraji,Carl Wijting,Amitava Ghosh +6 more
TL;DR: This paper investigates deploying LTE on a license-exempt band as part of the pico-cell underlay and shows that LTE can deliver significant capacity even while sharing the spectrum with WiFi systems.
