Journal ArticleDOI

Size selectivity of standardized multimesh gillnets in sampling coarse European species

TL;DR: Gillnet selectivity is studied by using a direct method to compare fish-size distributions from gillnet catches with a reference distribution obtained using beach seines for fry and adult fish in five Czech reservoirs to develop average species-specific corrections.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of high-frequency imaging sonar (DIDSON) to observe fish behaviour towards a surface trawl

TL;DR: In this paper, a high-frequency imaging sonar (DIDSON) was applied to directly observe and record fish avoidance behaviour in front of the mouth of an active pelagic surface trawl in the meso-to eutrophic Czech reservoir Želivka in August 2009.
Journal ArticleDOI

Distribution patterns of fishes in a canyon‐shaped reservoir

TL;DR: Depth had the largest explanatory power for predicting fish community composition, followed by the affiliation with benthic and pelagic habitats, and location on the longitudinal axis of the reservoir.
