Muscadine Grape Skin Extract (MPX) in Men with Biochemically Recurrent Prostate Cancer: A Randomized, Multicenter, Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trial.
Channing J. Paller,Xian C. Zhou,Elisabeth I. Heath,Mary-Ellen Taplin,Tina M. Mayer,Mark N. Stein,Glenn J. Bubley,Roberto Pili,Tamaro Hudson,Radhika Kakarla,Muneer Abbas,Nicole M. Anders,Donna Dowling,Serina King,Ashley Bruns,William D. Wagner,Charles G. Drake,Emmanuel S. Antonarakis,Mario A. Eisenberger,Samuel R. Denmeade,Michelle A. Rudek,Gary L. Rosner,Michael A. Carducci +22 more
TL;DR: Compared with placebo, MPX did not significantly prolong PSADT in BCR patients over two different doses, and exploratory analysis revealed a patient population with potential benefit that would require further study.

Vitamin D Receptor Genetic Polymorphisms Are Associated with PSA Level, Gleason Score and Prostate Cancer Risk in African-American Men
Emmanuel Y. Jingwi,Muneer Abbas,Luisel Ricks-Santi,Danyelle A. Winchester,Desta Beyene,Agnes Day,Tammey Naab,Olakunle O. Kassim,Georgia M. Dunston,Robert L. Copeland,Yasmine Kanaan +10 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the VDR SNPs may be associated with PCa risk and other clinical phenotypes of PCa in AA men.
Journal ArticleDOI
Next Generation Sequencing Reveals High Prevalence of BRCA1 and BRCA2 Variants of Unknown Significance in Early-Onset Breast Cancer in African American Women.
Luisel Ricks-Santi,J. Tyson McDonald,Bert Gold,Michael Dean,Nicole Thompson,Muneer Abbas,Bradford Wilson,Yasmine Kanaan,Tammey Naab,Georgia M. Dunston +9 more
TL;DR: Improving the characterization of mutations will lead to better management, treatment, and BCa prevention efforts in African Americans who are disproportionately affected with aggressive BCa and may inform future precision medicine genomic-based clinical studies.

Journal ArticleDOI
Antitrypanosomal activities and cytotoxicity of some novel imido-substituted 1,4-naphthoquinone derivatives.
Mozna Husein Khraiwesh,Clarence M. Lee,Yakini Brandy,Emmanuel S. Akinboye,Solomon Berhe,Genelle Gittens,Muneer Abbas,Franklin R. Ampy,Mohammad Ashraf,Oladapo Bakare +9 more
TL;DR: The antitrypanosomal activities, cytotoxicity, and selectivity indices of eleven imido-substituted 1,4-naphthoquinone derivatives and nifurtimox have been studied and four of these compounds, IMDNQ1-IMDNQ11, are significantly more selective in inhibiting the parasite growth.
