Estimation of solar radiation and optimum tilt angles for south-facing surfaces in Humid Subtropical Climatic Region of India

TL;DR: In this article, the availability of solar radiation for south-facing flat surfaces in Humid Subtropical Climatic Region of India has been estimated for over a period of three years.
Journal ArticleDOI

Computation of glass-cover temperatures and top heat loss coefficient of flat-plate solar collectors with double glazing

TL;DR: In this paper, a set of correlations for computing the glass-cover temperatures of flat-plate solar collectors with double glazing is developed, and the results are compared with those obtained by numerical solutions of heat-balance equations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Approximate method for computation of glass cover temperature and top heat-loss coefficient of solar collectors with single glazing

TL;DR: In this paper, an improved equation form for computing the glass cover temperature of flat-plate solar collectors with single glazing is developed, and a semi-analytical correlation for the factor f (the ratio of inner to outer heat-transfer coefficients) as a function of collector parameters and atmospheric variables is obtained by regression analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of empirical models to estimate monthly mean diffuse solar radiation from measured data: Case study for humid-subtropical climatic region of India

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance comparison of the models to estimate monthly mean diffuse solar radiation on a horizontal surface for Humid-Subtropical Climatic Region of India was demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Estimation of diffuse solar radiation in humid-subtropical climatic region of India: Comparison of diffuse fraction and diffusion coefficient models

TL;DR: In this article, measured data of solar radiation were utilized to develop sixteen empirical models for estimation of monthly mean diffuse solar radiation with single input predictor as clearness index, which can be used to evaluate diffuse solar radiations in the region considered.
