Journal ArticleDOI
PEGylation of polypropylenimine dendrimers : effects on cytotoxicity, DNA condensation, gene delivery and expression in cancer cells
Sukrut Somani,Partha Laskar,Najla Altwaijry,Paphitchaya Kewcharoenvong,Craig Irving,Gillian Robb,Benjamin S. Pickard,Christine Dufès +7 more
TL;DR: PEGylated generations 3- and 4-DAB dendrimers are promising gene delivery systems for cancer therapy, combining low cytotoxicity and high transfection efficacy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Redox-sensitive, cholesterol-bearing PEGylated poly(propylene imine)-based dendrimersomes for drug and gene delivery to cancer cells.
Partha Laskar,Sukrut Somani,Najla Altwaijry,Margaret Mullin,Deborah Bowering,Monika Warzecha,Patricia Keating,Rothwelle J. Tate,Hing Y. Leung,Christine Dufès +9 more
TL;DR: The high-cholesterol-bearing dendrimersomes were found to have a higher melting enthalpy, increased adsorption tendency on mica surface, entrapping ability for a larger amount of hydrophobic drugs, and increased resistance to redox-responsive environments in comparison with their low-ch cholesterol counterpart.
Journal ArticleDOI
Targeted nonviral gene therapy in prostate cancer
TL;DR: This review provides an overview of the various nonviral delivery strategies and gene therapy concepts used to deliver therapeutic DNA to prostate cancer cells, and focuses on recent therapeutic advances made so far.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regression of prostate tumors after intravenous administration of lactoferrin-bearing polypropylenimine dendriplexes encoding TNF-α, TRAIL, and interleukin-12.
Najla Altwaijry,Sukrut Somani,John Parkinson,Rothwelle J. Tate,Patricia Keating,Monika Warzecha,Graeme R. MacKenzie,Hing Y. Leung,Christine Dufès +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the intravenous administration of Lf-bearing DAB dendriplexes encoding TNFα resulted in the complete suppression of 70% of PC-3 and 50% of DU145 tumors over one month.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ehrlich ascites carcinoma as model for studying the cardiac protective effects of curcumin nanoparticles against cardiac damage in female mice.
Badriyah Shadid Alotaibi,Ehab Tousson,Thanaa A. El-Masry,Thanaa A. El-Masry,Najla Altwaijry,Asmaa Saleh,Asmaa Saleh +6 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that curcumin nanoparticles induced protection to the blood and heart tissue during Ehrlich ascites carcinoma.
