AbstractMultiplication is used in digital systems mostly because it is one of the main arithmetic functions. There are three steps for multiplication, which are partial product generation, partial product reduction to two rows and using a ripple carry adder (RCA) tree for final addition of the binary results. The second part mainly contributes to time delay, amount of power consumed and the complexity of the design. Hence, we enhance the efficiency of this stage by using proper arithmetic blocks, such as compressors, to directly improve the performance and energy efficiency of the multiplier. Design of Low Powered and High Speed Compressor Based Multiplier

Multipliers are mainly used in digital signal processing (DSP) applications. The multiplier is the most popular one out of all existing arithmetic operations. It is used to perform the multiplication between two numbers in different types of approaches. Mainly the multiplier focuses on the four aspects to form an efficient multiplier, i.e., speed, power consumption, area, and accuracy. In this article, it covers all existing popular multipliers like booth, array, Wallace tree, sequential, logarithm, and combinational multiplier. In addition to this, we discussed the modified booth multiplier and its properties. At last, we compared each multiplier w.r.t their performance parameters like speed, time delay, area, complexity, accuracy, and power consumption.
