Abstract: The Relationship between General Health and Internet Addiction Nastiezaie Nasser Background: Internet is a neutral tool on its own. However, excessive use of internet poses the risk of being addicted to it. This study was performed to investigate the association between general health and internet addiction. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study a total number of 375 students (189 female and 186 male) were randomly selected from Sistan and Baluchestan University between 2007 to 2008. Using the internet addiction test (IAT), the students were divided into two groups: ordinary users and addicted users of internet. The general health questionnaire (GHQ) was used to compare these two groups. The SPSS software and t test were used to analyze the data and P<0.01 was significant. Results: The general health of internet-addicted users in comparison with ordinary users was at a higher risk (P<0.01). But the difference between two groups in general health and disorders of social function were not statistically significant. Conclusion: Depression and anxiety were common in internet addicted users and it was correlated to the amount of time that they were allocating to it.

Abstract: One of the most important elements of any organization especially health organizations is human resources. Job satisfaction leads to being interested or disinterested. The present study aimed to determine the job satisfaction of nursing staff of three hospitals in Zahedan. Materials & Methods: The present study was a descriptive-analytical study and 220 samples were involved through stratified-random sampling method. The questionnaires were distributed among nursing staff in three hospitals in Zahedan. Thirty seven questionnaires were excluded due to the lack of information. Data collection tools were the questionnaires of Wysocki and Kromm. Descriptive statistics and T test were used to analyze the data. Results: It was revealed that nursing staffs had desirable job satisfaction (mean 3.847). Satisfaction variable components were respectively: supervisor satisfaction (4.1311), job satisfaction (4.1038), satisfaction of co-workers (3.9891), satisfaction of promotion system (3.2623) and satisfaction of payment (2.5027). All variables were relatively desirable except for payment method. Conclusion: Regarding the importance of job satisfaction in nursing staffs the following suggestions are presented: offering promotions based on merit and competence; establishing friendly and sincere atmosphere and avoiding unhealthy competitions; tending toward participatory management; solving economic problems; rewarding and thanking the staff, especially in public.

Abstract: This study aimed to examine the relationship of academic burnout and academic stress with academic self-efficacy among graduate students. 307 graduate students at the University of Sistan and Baluchestan (140 female and 167 male students) were selected as a sample using the stratified random sampling method. The subjects were evaluated by questionnaires on academic burnout, academic stress, and academic self-efficacy. Data was analyzed using one-sample t-test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and simultaneous regression analysis. Results revealed that academic burnout was significantly related to academic self-efficacy among the students, in the way that an increase in academic burnout among the students led to a decrease in their academic self-efficacy. Moreover, academic stress was significantly related to academic self-efficacy, in the way that an increase in academic stress among the students led to a decrease in their self-efficacy.

Abstract: Introduction: Test anxiety is a type of situation dependent anxiety that can lead to a significant reduction in the individual’s ability in dealing with tests and assessments. Considering its high prevalence negative effects on the students’ education, several methods have been developed to reduce it. This study aimed to determine the effect of time management training on test anxiety among the university students. Method: This was a pretest-posttest study with a quasi-experimental design and a control group. The study population of the present study included all university students who had test anxiety and referred to the counseling center of university of Sistan and Baluchestan in November 2014. Using convenience sampling method, 48 university students were selected as the sample and were randomly placed into two experimental and control groups. Afterwards, time management training was conducted for the experimental group for four weeks (eight sessions). The control group did not receive any intervention. Through applying Sarason test anxiety scale, the levels of test anxiety were assessed in both groups before intervention and two weeks after the intervention. Data were compared using analysis of covariance and SPSS version 21. Results: After the intervention, mean scores on test anxiety reduced in the experimental group significantly (P<0.001). Conclusion: Time management training could be effective in reducing the university students’ test anxiety.

Abstract: Internet addiction has become an increasingly researched area in many Westernized countries. However, there has been little research in developing countries such as Iran, and when research has been conducted, it has typically utilized small samples. This study investigated the relationship of Internet addiction with stress, depression, anxiety, and loneliness in 1052 Iranian adolescents and young adults. The participants were randomly selected to complete a battery of psychometrically validated instruments including the Internet Addiction Test, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, and the Loneliness Scale. Structural equation modeling and Pearson correlation coefficients were used to determine the relationship between Internet addiction and psychological impairments (depression, anxiety, stress and loneliness). Pearson correlation, path analysis, multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), and t-tests were used to analyze the data. Results showed that Internet addiction is a predictor of stress, depression, anxiety, and loneliness. Findings further indicated that addictive Internet use is gender sensitive and that the risk of Internet addiction is higher in males than in females. The results showed that male Internet addicts differed significantly from females in terms of depression, anxiety, stress, and loneliness. The implications of these results are discussed.

Journal of Advanced Nursing68(3), 539–549. Abstract Aim. This study was designed to identify the level of nurses’ job satisfaction, occupational commitment and intent to stay among mainland Chinese nurses, to explore the relationship among them. Background. Little is known about the magnitude of Chinese nurses’ intent to stay. Understanding the association among demographic characteristics and job satisfaction, occupational commitment and intent to stay among Chinese nurses is most important in a time of nurse shortages. Methods. A descriptive correlation design was used to examine the relationship among variables related to intent to stay. Data were collected by a self-administered survey questionnaire from 560 nurses working in four large hospital facilities in Shanghai in 2009. Results. The mean scores for nurses’ job satisfaction, occupational commitment and intent to stay were 3·25(0·48), 3·11(0·40) and 3·56(0·65), respectively. Job satisfaction and occupational commitment were significantly related to intent to stay. A statistically significant positive correlation was found between occupational commitment and job satisfaction. Age and job position were significantly related to job satisfaction, occupational commitment and intent to stay. Conclusion. Levels of job satisfaction, occupational commitment and intent to stay reported by nurses in this study can be improved. Suggested strategies for improvement are: increasing salaries, decreasing workloads, modifying task structure, cultivating work passion and creating more professional opportunity for nurses’ personal growth development and promotion. Enhancing nurses’ job satisfaction and occupational commitment are vital to improve nurses’ intent to stay and for strategies to address the nursing shortage.
