Journal ArticleDOI
Functional Characterization of the S. cerevisiae Genome by Gene Deletion and Parallel Analysis
Elizabeth A. Winzeler,Daniel D. Shoemaker,Anna Astromoff,Hong Liang,Keith Anderson,Bruno André,Rhonda Bangham,Rocío Benito,Jef D. Boeke,Howard Bussey,Angela M. Chu,Carla Connelly,Karen Davis,Fred S. Dietrich,Sally Dow,Mohamed El Bakkoury,Françoise Foury,Stephen H. Friend,Erik Gentalen,Guri Giaever,Johannes H. Hegemann,Ted Jones,Michael T. Laub,Hong Liao,Nicole Liebundguth,David J. Wysocki,Grace Yen,Kexin Yu,Katja Zimmermann,Peter Philippsen,Mark Johnston,Ronald W. Davis +51 more
TL;DR: A total of 6925 Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains were constructed, by a high-throughput strategy, each with a precise deletion of one of 2026 ORFs (more than one-third of the ORFs in the genome), finding that 17 percent were essential for viability in rich medium.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structures of the free and inhibitors-bound forms of bromelain and ananain from Ananas comosus stem and in vitro study of their cytotoxicity.
Mohamed Azarkan,Erik Maquoi,François Delbrassine,Raphaël Herman,Nasiha M'Rabet,Rafaèle Calvo Esposito,Paulette Charlier,Frédéric Kerff +7 more
TL;DR: While bromelain and ananain had a strong effect on the proliferation of the OCI-LY19 and HL-60 non-adherent cell lines, papain, the archetypal member of the C1A subfamily, had none, which indicates that, in this case, sequence/structure identity beyond the active site of bromELain andAnanain is more important than substrate specificity.
Journal ArticleDOI
A contaminant trypsin-like activity from the timothy grass pollen is responsible for the conflicting enzymatic behavior of the major allergen Phl p 1
TL;DR: The purification of the natural Phl p 1 by means of hydrophobic interaction, gel filtration and STI-Sepharose affinity chromatographies and the data indicated that Phlp 1 is not a protease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cytotoxic properties of unfractionated and fractionated bromelain alone or in combination with chemotherapeutic agents in colorectal cancer cells
Kuei Yen Tsai,Po-Li Wei,Mohamed Azarkan,Nasiha M'Rabet,Precious Takondwa Makondi,Hsin An Chen,Chien Yu Huang,Yu Jia Chang +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the cytotoxicity of F3 bromelain in colorectal cancer (CRC) cells was found to be comparable to that of fraction 3.
