Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical recognition of conspecifics in a neotropical lizard, Liolaemus pacha (Iguania: Liolaemidae): relation to visual displays, season and sex

TL;DR: The results suggest that for male L. pacha, chemical cues play an important role in mate recognition, and suggests that the observed seasonal behavioral differences might be associated with physiological changes related mainly to reproduction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interaction between visual and chemical cues in a Liolaemus lizard: a multimodal approach.

TL;DR: Whether the visual component of a multimodal signal could attract attention at a distance, increasing the effectiveness of transmission and reception of the information in chemical cues, is discussed.

Natural History Notes

Jesse Wampler, +230 more
TL;DR: Marques et al. as discussed by the authors reported an incident of cannibalism in L. miliaris involving two individuals of a litter kept in captivity, and the female was euthanised and dissection revealed that it had ingested another conspecific female (IB 74410, SVL = 135 mm, TL = 41 mm and 2.28 g).
Journal ArticleDOI

Headbob displays signal sex, social context and species identity in a Liolaemus lizard

TL;DR: The objectives were to describe the form of headbobs, to analyse their structure and to compare between sexes and social contexts, and it was shown that bouts A and B might be multi-component signals and non-redundant.
