Instructional Manipulation Checks: Detecting Satisficing to Increase Statistical Power

TL;DR: This paper proposed Instructional manipulation check (IMC), a new tool for detecting participants who are not following instructions and demonstrated how the inclusion of an IMC can increase statistical power and reliability of a dataset.

Spiral Waves in Two-Dimensional Models of Ventricular Muscle: Formation of a Stationary Core

TL;DR: The data demonstrate that stable spiral wave activity can occur in small cardiac sheets whose wavelength during planar wave excitation in the longitudinal direction is larger than the size of the sheet, and set the stage for an understanding of functional reentry in terms of ionic mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silhouetted face profiles: a new methodology for face perception research.

TL;DR: A shape-based parameterization that relies on a small set of landmark points is described and it is shown that face silhouettes can be effectively represented in a 20-dimensional "silhouette face space" and that in this physical space, distance from the center of the space corresponds to perceived distinctiveness.
