In this manuscripts, H-slotted DGS based antenna configuration for K/Ku applications is designed, fabricated and measured using ROHDE & SCHWARZ ZVB20 network analyzer. Simulation studies are performed using Electromagnetic Simulation Software CST Studio Suite. Moreover, a development of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) model is implemented based on feedforward back-propagation and Bayesian regularization learning algorithm. The optimal position for H-slotted DGS antenna performance is predicted in terms of reflection coefficient and resonance frequency. The antenna is implemented on Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 with relative dielectric constant of 0.0009 and thickness 0.38 mm. It operates at both 15.04 GHz (from 14.87 GHz to 15.208 GHz) and 24.77 GHz (from 24.404 GHz to 25.137 GHz). The antenna achieves gains of 5.59 dB and 6.10 dB and efficiencies of 87 % and 80 % at both frequencies, respectively. The simulation using CST, predicted ANN and measurement results are in good agreement.

Low Profile Dual Band H-Slotted DGS Based Antenna Design Using ANN for K/Ku Band Applications

According to the survey, 17.5 million people die each year as a result of cardiovascular disease, which causes heart attacks, chest pain, and stroke. Based on the results of the study, it is clear that the majority of people with heart problems need to be diagnosed earlier. The paper presents a monitoring framework enabled by the Cloud-based Intelligent System-Supervised Patient Monitoring Platform (CBIS-SPMP), where sensors collect ECG and SPO2 are transmitted to the cloud for seamless access by health care professionals. The patient can be used a WiFi path or wireless path to send data to overcome the event of Internet disconnections. The status of a patient is identified using preprocessing operations and classifiers. The notifications are sent in SMS and Email to the patient only in case of Normal diagnosis and to the patient and the doctor in case of abnormal diagnosis. The back-propagation algorithm is used to train Deep CNN and compare it with shallow CNN. The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed Deep CNN classifier for patient monitoring. The proposed technique achieved an average accuracy of 94%. It gives higher F-measurement than shallow learning. The proposed CBIS-SPMP model with both the WiFi path and the wireless path will improve the system's wireless reliability and operating efficiency.

Low-Cost Cloud-based Intelligent Remote Patient Monitoring for Heart Patient

Design and Analysis of Dual-Band Monopole Antenna Using Star EBG Structures

In this paper, a microstrip double patch antenna is designed using CST microwave studio suite 2016. The designed antenna is constructed of two square patches on the top layer and a Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR) as a Defected Ground Structure (DGS) on the grounded bottom layer. The antenna is set to operate at the frequency 5.8 GHz using an FR4 material as the substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.3 and a height of 1.5 mm (h). The proposed antenna can be utilized for the Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) applications. The proposed antenna can be fabricated at a low cost since it is compact with a low profile and good isolation. The size of the antenna is 64.5×36.25×1.5 mm3. The integration of the CSRR at the ground plane results in a size reduction of 35% and a better impedance matching (S11 = -39.6 dB), while it was -23 dB without CSRR. The parameters of the antenna such as input reflection coefficient, VSWR, far field characteristics and radiation pattern has been simulated and analyzed.

Miniaturized Double-patch Antenna Design for WLAN Communication with CSRR DGS

The Heterogeneous network was introduced to provide the ability to serve more users in the dense areas especially in the LTE and LTE-A mobile generations. However, this technology has some issues in terms of the inter-cell interference between the neighboring cells which will decrease the performance of the cell-edge users. The Coordinated Multi Points (CoMP) transmission technique is suggested to solve this problem; however, it still has many downsides when scheduling the cell-edge users. In this paper, we proposed a scheme that used the special subframes which are used in the cell range expansion (CRE) in the inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) in order to schedule the edge users and give them higher priority in the queue to be served first. Moreover, the CoMP mode will be selected depending on the SINR threshold value. The results show that the cell-edge users will get better performance when applying the scheme and the whole network throughput will be improved if the number of the cell-edge users is less than 50% of the total number of connected users in the network.
