Abstract: Fats which have been treated with chromic acid usually contain traces of chromium. Small amounts of chromium may be detected and estimated by means of diphenylcarbazide. Small amounts of other metals, especially iron, aluminium, copper and silica which are apt to be found in the ash of fats, do not interfere in this reaction.
