Identification and analysis of functional elements in 1% of the human genome by the ENCODE pilot project

Ewan Birney, +320 more
- 14 Jun 2007 -
TL;DR: Functional data from multiple, diverse experiments performed on a targeted 1% of the human genome as part of the pilot phase of the ENCODE Project are reported, providing convincing evidence that the genome is pervasively transcribed, such that the majority of its bases can be found in primary transcripts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Common VKORC1 and GGCX polymorphisms associated with warfarin dose.

TL;DR: A novel combination of factors that explains almost 60% of variable response to warfarin are reported, andotype-based dose predictions may in future enable personalised drug treatment from the start of warFarin therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Warfarin sensitivity related to CYP2C9, CYP3A5, ABCB1 (MDR1) and other factors

TL;DR: Thirty-six patients with serious bleeding complications had higher prothrombin time international normalised ratios than 189 warfarin-treated patients without serious bleeding, but there were no significant differences in CYP2C9, CYP3A5 or ABCB1 genotypes and allelic variants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Functional role of P-glycoprotein in the human blood-placental barrier.

TL;DR: The role of P‐glycoprotein in the blood‐placental barrier is characterized by use of dually perfused human placenta to protect the fetus from exposure to xenobiotics during pregnancy.
