Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis, resolution, and absolute stereochemistry of (-)-blestriarene C.

TL;DR: It was found that blestriarene C and its 7,7'-diisopropyl ether 2 underwent rapid photoracemization even under ambient light exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nucleophilic aromatic substitution on 1-alkoxy-2-nitronaphthalene by 1-naphthyl Grignard reagents for the synthesis of 2-nitro-1,1'-binaphthyls

TL;DR: In this article, the axial chirality into the binaphthyl bond was achieved by using 1-menthoxy-2-nitronaphthalene as the substrate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthetic study of marine lobane diterpenes: efficient synthesis of (+)-fuscol

TL;DR: In this article, the enantioselective synthesis of (+)-fuscol 4, a representative lobane diterpene, has been achieved in 10 steps and ca. 20% overall yield from (4R,5R)-1-acetoxy-4-isopropenyl-5-methyl-5vinylcyclohex-1-ene 3b, which itself has been prepared as a building block directed toward the asymmetric synthesis of natural products.
Journal ArticleDOI

First determination of the absolute stereochemistry of a naturally occurring 1,1′-biphenanthrene, (−)-blestriarene C, and its unexpected photoracemization

TL;DR: A naturally occurring 1,1'-biphenanthrene, blestriarene C, was prepared and its absolute stereochemistry was determined to be Sa-(-) by an empirical method, during which the compound was found to undergo rapid photoracemization even under ambient light exposure.
