Journal ArticleDOI
Reproducibility testing of RAPD, AFLP and SSR markers in plants by a network of European laboratories
C. J. Jones,Keith J. Edwards,S. Castaglione,Mark O. Winfield,Francesco Sala,C.C.M. van de Wiel,G.M.M. Bredemeijer,Ben Vosman,Michaela C. Matthes,A. Daly,Reinhold Brettschneider,P. Bettini,Marcello Buiatti,Elena Maestri,Aliosha Malcevschi,Nelson Marmiroli,R. L. Aert,Guido Volckaert,Julia Rueda,Rosario Linacero,A. M. Vázquez,Angela Karp +21 more
TL;DR: This article describes a network experiment involving several European laboratories, in which the reproducibility of three popular molecular marker techniques was examined: random-amplified fragment length polymorphism (RAPD), amplified fragment length SNP (AFLP) and sequence-tagged microsatellites (SSR).
Journal ArticleDOI
Pleiotropic effect of the insertion of the Agrobacterium rhizogenes rolD gene in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)
TL;DR: It seems that the transformation of tomato plants with rolD could lead to an increased competence for defense response, as shown by toxin tolerance and increased expression of the Systemic Acquired Resistance marker gene PR-1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlations between in vivo resistance to Fusarium and in vitro response to fungal elicitors and toxic substances in carnation.
Marcello Buiatti,Aniello Scala,P. Bettini,G. Nascari,R. Morpurgo,Patrizia Bogani,G. Pellegrini,F. Gimelli,R. Venturo +8 more
TL;DR: The differential response to the fungal elicitor seemed to be highly specific as genetic differences between cultivars were not observed in tissue cultures treated with other biotic (Phytophthora infestans) and abiotic elicitors.
Book ChapterDOI
Reproducibility testing of RAPDs by a network of European laboratories
C. J. Jones,Keith J. Edwards,S. Castiglione,Mark O. Winfield,Francesco Sala,C. Van der Wiel,B. L. Vosman,Michaela C. Matthes,A. Daly,Reinhold Brettschneider,P. Bettini,Marcello Buiatti,Elena Maestri,Nelson Marmiroli,R. L. Aert,Guido Volckaert,Julia Rueda,A. M. Vázquez,Angela Karp +18 more
TL;DR: A network reproducibility test was carried by nine European laboratories to determine whether RAPD profiles could be reproduced by different laboratories if all details of the reaction conditions were standardized.
Journal ArticleDOI
The expression of the cerato‐platanin gene is related to hyphal growth and chlamydospores formation in Ceratocystis platani
Ivan Baccelli,Cecilia Comparini,P. Bettini,Federica Martellini,Michelina Ruocco,Luigia Pazzagli,Rodolfo Bernardi,Aniello Scala +7 more
TL;DR: A role for CP in growth and developmental processes of C. platani is supported, taking into account the localization of CP in the fungal cell wall and the recently published 3D structure of the protein.
