Journal ArticleDOI

Friction and wear of PTFE composites at cryogenic temperatures

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the tribological behavior of PTFE composites against steel at cryogenic temperatures and found that the friction coefficient decreases with temperature down to 77 K, but did not follow a linear evolution further down to extreme low temperatures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Friction and Wear of Carbon Fibre Filled Polymer Composites at Room and Low Temperatures

TL;DR: In this article, the tribological behavior of carbon fiber filled PTFE and PEEK composites in a cryogenic environment (liquid nitrogen; T = −196 ˚C) was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sliding performance of polymer composites in liquid hydrogen and liquid nitrogen

TL;DR: In this paper, three types of thermoplastics, i.e., polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polyetherimide (PEI) and polyamide 6,6 (PA6,6), and one epoxy were considered as matrix materials.

Der Einfluss kryogener Medien auf den Materialtransfer im Tribosystem Polymerkomposit/Stahl

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of friction heat at the contact area on the cooling action of the cryogen liquid is notably observed in this investigation, and the important role of the test parameters and the influence of temperature and medium on the tribological behaviour of the materials is discussed.
