Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitation of HIV-1-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes and plasma load of viral RNA.
Graham S. Ogg,Xia Jin,Sebastian Bonhoeffer,P R Dunbar,Martin A. Nowak,Simon Monard,Jeremy P. Segal,Yunzhen Cao,Sarah Rowland-Jones,Vincenzo Cerundolo,Arlene Hurley,M. Markowitz,David D. Ho,Douglas F. Nixon,Andrew J. McMichael +14 more
TL;DR: With the use of the tetrameric complexes, a significant inverse correlation was observed between HIV-specific CTL frequency and plasma RNA viral load and suggest a considerable cytopathic effect of the virus in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of Successful Immune Responses in Persons Infected with Hepatitis C Virus
Franziska Lechner,David Wong,P R Dunbar,Roger W. Chapman,Raymond T. Chung,P B Dohrenwend,Gregory K. Robbins,Rodney E. Phillips,Paul Klenerman,Bruce D. Walker +9 more
TL;DR: A strong and persistent CTL response in resolving acute HCV infection is demonstrated, and rationale to explore immune augmentation as a therapeutic intervention in chronic HCv infection is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
High Frequencies of Naive Melan-a/Mart-1–Specific Cd8+ T Cells in a Large Proportion of Human Histocompatibility Leukocyte Antigen (Hla)-A2 Individuals
Mikael J. Pittet,Danila Valmori,P R Dunbar,Daniel E. Speiser,Danielle Liénard,Danielle Liénard,Ferdy Lejeune,Katharina Fleischhauer,Vincenzo Cerundolo,Jean-Charles Cerottini,Pedro Romero +10 more
TL;DR: High frequencies of naive Melan-A–specific CD8+ T cells can be found in a large proportion of HLA-A*0201+ individuals, and as demonstrated for one patient followed over time, dramatic phenotype changes of circulating Melan–A-specific cells can occur in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid generation of broad T-cell immunity in humans after a single injection of mature dendritic cells
M V Dhodapkar,Ralph M. Steinman,Mark Sapp,H Desai,C Fossella,Joseph Krasovsky,Sean M. Donahoe,P R Dunbar,Vincenzo Cerundolo,Douglas F. Nixon,Nina Bhardwaj +10 more
TL;DR: These data provide the first controlled evidence of the immunogenicity of DCs in humans, and demonstrate that a single injection of mature DCs rapidly expands T-cell immunity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immune Activation and CD8+ T-Cell Differentiation towards Senescence in HIV-1 Infection
Laura Papagno,Celsa A. Spina,Arnaud Marchant,Mariolina Salio,Nathalie Rufer,Susan J. Little,Tao Dong,G Chesney,Anele Waters,Philippa Easterbrook,P R Dunbar,Dawn Shepherd,Vincenzo Cerundolo,Vincent C. Emery,Paul D. Griffiths,Christopher P. Conlon,Andrew J. McMichael,Douglas D. Richman,Sarah Rowland-Jones,Victor Appay +19 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the activation level and the differentiation state of T-cells are closely related and may be part of the mechanism through which HIV-1-mediated immune activation exhausts the capacity of the immune system.
