Studies on banana fruit quality and maturity stages using hyperspectral imaging
TL;DR: Banana quality and maturity stages were studied at three different temperatures, viz., 20, 25, and 30 °C by using hyperspectral imaging technique in the visible and near infrared (400-1000) regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Drying characteristics of foamed alphonso mango pulp in a continuous type foam mat dryer
TL;DR: In this article, preliminary trials were conducted for foam mat drying of alphonso mango pulp using batch type cabinet dryer and it was observed that the foamed pulp using egg albumen (10%) as foaming agent with methyl cellulose (0.5%) as stabilizing agent, dried at 60 C with 1 mm foam thickness was found to be the best.
Journal ArticleDOI
Foam Mat Drying of Alphonso Mango Pulp
TL;DR: In this paper, the foam mat drying of Alphonso mango pulp using various food foaming agents, namely soy protein (0.25, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5%), glycerol mono stearate, and egg albumen, was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Drying Kinetics of Tomato Slices in Vacuum Assisted Solar and Open Sun Drying Methods
TL;DR: In this paper, a vacuum-assisted solar dryer was developed to study the drying kinetics of tomato slices (4, 6, and 8mm thicknesses) compared with open sun drying under the weather conditions of Montreal, Canada.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving cranberry shelf-life using high voltage electric field treatment
TL;DR: In this paper, high voltage electric fields (HVEF) of 2, 5 or 8kV cm−1 in strength for 30, 60 or 120 min in a parallel plate electrode system were applied to cranberries for three weeks to study the effect of treatments on their respiration rate, physiological loss of mass (PLM), colour, total soluble solids (TSS) and skin puncture strength.
