Journal ArticleDOI

Creating Chiral Surfaces for Enantioselective Heterogeneous Catalysis: R,R-Tartaric Acid on Cu(110)

TL;DR: In this article, the behavior of R,R-tartaric acid adsorption on a Cu(110) surface using high-resolution surface analytical techniques is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structures of Fe 3 O 4 (111) surfaces observed by scanning tunneling microscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, two distinct coexisting surface terminations having identical hexagonal unit-cell dimensions and orientations are identified, and two types of Fe(111) layers found in the bulk Fe(3) structure are identified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biphase Ordering of Iron Oxide Surfaces.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that a superlattice can be stabilized by coexisting two types of oxygen sublattices, i.e., FeO(111) and O(1) phases, with each phase existing in atomically well-ordered islands of mesoscopic dimensions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Added row model of TiO 2 ( 110 ) 1 × 2

TL;DR: In this article, a simple model consisting only of atoms in their bulkterminated positions is proposed to resolve the controversy surrounding the surface morphology of tunneling microscopy images, which shows an agreement with the experimental data that cannot be achieved even qualitatively for the previously proposed models.
