Natural fibres: can they replace glass in fibre reinforced plastics?

TL;DR: In this paper, natural fibres (sisal, kenaf, hemp, jute and coir) reinforced polypropylene composites were processed by compression molding using a film stacking method.

Natural fibres: Can they replace glass in fibre reinforced plastics ?

TL;DR: In this article, natural fibres (sisal, kenaf, hemp, jute and coir) reinforced polypropylene composites were processed by compression molding using a film stacking method.
Journal ArticleDOI

Review of the applications of biocomposites in the automotive industry

TL;DR: An overview of biocomposite application in the automotives via a documentation of their history, chronology and progressive steps taken to break into the production lines of a number of key auto makers is provided in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI

The response of natural fibre composites to ballistic impact by fragment simulating projectiles

TL;DR: In this paper, the ballistic properties of flax, hemp and jute fabric reinforced polypropylene composites processed by hot compression molding were investigated, and the composites' ballistic limit was determined by subjecting the material to ballistic impact loading by fragment simulating projectiles (FSPs) using a block manometric cannon interchangeable (BMCI) gun.
Book ChapterDOI

Natural Fibre-Reinforced Polymer Composites and Nanocomposites for Automotive Applications

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the applications of natural fiber-reinforced composites and nanocomposites in automotive structural applications and highlighted the main drawbacks faced by these composites to lightweight components or vehicle manufacturing.
