Abstract: Total lipid and triglyceride contents were depleted in both acidic and alkaline media with an increase in glycerol content only in acidic medium. The free fatty acids and phospholipids were decreased in acidic medium and increased in alkaline medium. Branchial tissue cholesterol contest was increased in both the media. The changes in the lipid profiles of the branchial tissue was in correlation with osmotic and ionic regulations of the fish in altered pH media
