Deposits of clastic carbonate-dominated (calciclastic) sedimentary slope systems in the rock record have been identified mostly as linearly-consistent carbonate apron deposits, even though most ancient clastic carbonate slope deposits fit the submarine fan systems better. Calciclastic submarine fans are consequently rarely described and are poorly understood. Subsequently, very little is known especially in mud-dominated calciclastic submarine fan systems. Presented in this study are a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) that reveals a >250 m thick calciturbidite complex deposited in a calciclastic submarine fan setting. Seven facies are recognised from core and thin section characterisation and are grouped into three carbonate turbidite sequences. They include: 1) Calciturbidites, comprising mostly of highto low-density, wavy-laminated bioclast-rich facies; 2) low-density densite mudstones which are characterised by planar laminated and unlaminated muddominated facies; and 3) Calcidebrites which are muddy or hyper-concentrated debrisflow deposits occurring as poorly-sorted, chaotic, mud-supported floatstones. Over the last few decades, the proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) has produced an overwhelming flow of data and services, which has shifted the access control paradigm from a fixed desktop environment to dynamic cloud environments. Fog computing is associated with a new access control paradigm to reduce the overhead costs by moving the execution of application logic from the centre of the cloud data sources to the periphery of the IoT-oriented sensor networks. Indeed, accessing information and data resources from a variety of IoT sources has been plagued with inherent problems such as data heterogeneity, privacy, security and computational overheads. This paper presents an extensive survey of security, privacy and access control research, while highlighting several specific concerns in a wide range of contextual conditions (e.g., spatial, temporal and environmental contexts) which are gaining a lot of momentum in the area of industrial sensor and cloud networks. We present different taxonomies, such as contextual conditions and authorization models, based on the key issues in this area and discuss the existing context-sensitive access control approaches to tackle the aforementioned issues. With the aim of reducing administrative and computational overheads in the IoT sensor networks, we propose a new generation of Fog-Based Context-Aware Access Control (FB-CAAC) framework, combining the benefits of the cloud, IoT and context-aware computing; and ensuring proper access control and security at the edge of the end-devices. Our goal is not only to control context-sensitive access to data resources in the cloud, but also to move the execution of an application logic from the cloud-level to an intermediary-level where necessary, through adding computational nodes at the edge of the IoT sensor network. A discussion of some open research issues pertaining to context-sensitive access control to data resources is provided, including several real-world case studies. We conclude the paper with an in-depth analysis of the research challenges that have not been adequately addressed in the literature and highlight directions for future work that has not been well aligned with currently available research.

Towards the creation of a profile of the information privacy aware user through a systematic literature review of information privacy awareness

Advancement of Internet and digitalisation of information has led to increase of data breach incidences in social networking sites (SNS) particularly Facebook, thus affecting its market value and reputation The intriguing question is whether and how does data breach affects consumers’ behaviour towards Facebook advertising? The privacy literature provides inadequate account on this question In order to fill the gap, the current paper analyses privacy in Facebook and investigates the consequences of perceived data breach (PDB) on consumers’ behaviour towards Facebook advertising A systematic review of privacy literature was undertaken to answer the research question This paper reveals that protection of consumers’ privacy in Facebook is in deficit, and it further hypothesises that PDB influences consumers’ behaviour negatively by discouraging both acceptance and engagement with ads Moreover, PDB influences ad avoidance positively Likewise, it influences consumers’ psychology by increasing privacy concerns and emotional violation and reducing trust concurrently The findings of this study are not confirmatory; thus, a scope for further empirical research to test the developed model and inclusion of other mediating and moderating constructs is provided Practically, this paper recommends tough personal data protection regulations and privacy policy that prohibit Facebook and other SNS from online tracking of consumers Also, Facebook should build trust and revise privacy settings to enable consumers to opt in or out of receiving ads Finally, this paper’s theoretical contribution is the model which proposes that perceived data breach affects consumers’ behaviour towards Facebook advertising both directly and indirectly through psychological mediating variables

Facebook Data Breach: A Systematic Review of Its Consequences on Consumers’ Behaviour Towards Advertising

Libraries have increasingly adopted social media as an integral means of connecting with their users. However, social media presents many potential concerns regarding library patron privacy. This article presents the findings from a study of how librarians and library staff perceive and handle issues of patron privacy related to social media marketing in libraries. The study reports the results from a mixed-methods online survey, which used a nonprobability self-selection sampling method to collect responses from individuals employed by libraries, without restrictions on position or library type. Nearly three-quarters of respondents reported working in libraries that have either an official or unofficial social media policy. Approximately 53% of those policies mention patron privacy. The findings suggest that many respondents’ views and practices are influenced by the perception of the library’s physical space and social media presence as public places. The findings also suggest a lack of consensus regarding the extent of the library’s obligation to protect patron privacy on library social media sites and what would constitute a violation of privacy.

• Purpose: The study aims to find out the level of privacy awareness among the users of the Academic Social Networks (ASNs). • Methodology: To accomplish the study some relevant literatures were studied and an online survey was conducted. • Findings: The study showed that most of the academicians were not aware of their online privacy. • Research limitations: The study was conducted on the basis of responses collected from 457 respondents only. • Social implications: Depending on the findings of the online survey a framework of guidelines was proposed for the social media service providers and the academicians to ensure better online privacy and thus promote the trustworthiness of the ASNS. • Originality: There are very few studies available on the ASNs and till now no studies have been conducted to gauge the privacy awareness of the ASN users. Social Networking Websites and Privacy Concern: A User Study

Purpose




This paper aims to make news as a platform for the libraries to transmit information from the library resources and events to the huge mass of the society. The focus of the study is to design a flowchart of digesting the daily news and interlink them regularly to the library resources and events to build up a chain of development on a topic, enhance the easy promotion of the library resources to the public and offer them easy access to information.




Design/methodology/approach




The study is a theoretical explanation from the point of view of increasing the use of news acquired by a library and its resources. Literature on news-clipping service of the libraries, various news-clipping software and the trending online news applications have been studied extensively to ensure a harmonic design of the proposed flowchart.




Findings




The findings of the study describe the news digests that are expected as the outcome of the flowchart. The significant features and advantages of the news digests have also been discussed in the study.




Research limitations/implications




The limitation of the study is that the flowchart which has been designed and described in this study is a blueprint. It has not been developed in real and has not been tested. But from the library’s perspective, if the flowchart is developed and implemented in each library, it will maximize the utilization and consumption of information from the news and library resources.




Originality/value




News applications are dynamic and often publish similar or ambiguous news which is difficult for an individual to identify. Moreover, the libraries mostly provide news-clipping service. If the libraries can collect the news and process them in their own way, it can extract the complete and actual information. The libraries can also tag their possessions for complementing each news digest and thus providing the users for accessing an authentic content of information.

News articles as a platform for library resource endorsement and dispersion

The purpose of this study is to identify the compatibility of the inborn leadership style of the librarians to their situational leadership style using Fiedler’s Contingency Theory of Leadership; to find how the changes in situational variables affect one another; to investigate the degree of correlation between situational variables and LPC score obtained by the librarians. The head of the libraries of Dr. V. S. Krishna Library of Andhra University, Knowledge Resource Center of GITAM University, Osmania University Library and Ramesh Mohan Library of The English and Foreign Language University have been selected using purposive sampling technique. In order to investigate the leadership style of the library officials, survey and interview method was adopted. The result of the study shows that all the librarians are identically inherited relationship-oriented leaders but they are task oriented leaders in the regular situations of the library. The evidence of both positive and negative covariance has been found where power position seems to be playing the pessimistic role. It can also be found that the relationship between task structure and leader member relationship is the strongest whereas that of LPC scale and task structure is lowest. The originality of the study lies in the determination of leadership style and situational favourableness in the practical situation.
