Journal ArticleDOI
First hexagonal close packed high-entropy alloy with outstanding stability under extreme conditions and electrocatalytic activity for methanol oxidation
Kirill V. Yusenko,Sephira Riva,Patricia Almeida Carvalho,Patricia Almeida Carvalho,Maria V. Yusenko,Serena Arnaboldi,Aleksandr S. Sukhikh,Michael Hanfland,S. A. Gromilov +8 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Star-shaped magnetite@gold nanoparticles for protein magnetic separation and SERS detection
Pedro Quaresma,Pedro Quaresma,Inês Osório,Gonçalo Doria,Patricia Almeida Carvalho,André Pereira,Judith Langer,João P. Araújo,Isabel Pastoriza-Santos,Luis M. Liz-Marzán,Luis M. Liz-Marzán,Ricardo Franco,Pedro V. Baptista,Eulália Pereira +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the star-shaped gold-coated magnetic nanoparticles were used to selectively capture histidine-tagged maltose-binding protein from a crude cell extract.
Journal ArticleDOI
Docosahexaenoic Acid Inhibits Helicobacter pylori Growth In Vitro and Mice Gastric Mucosa Colonization
Marta Correia,Marta Correia,Valérie Michel,A. Alves de Matos,Patricia Almeida Carvalho,Maria José Oliveira,Rui M. Ferreira,Marie-Agnès Dillies,Michel Huerre,Raquel Seruca,Ceu Figueiredo,José Carlos Machado,Eliette Touati +12 more
TL;DR: DHA is an inhibitor of H. pylori growth and its ability to colonize mice gastric mucosa following DHA, ST or a combination of both treatments, which pave the way to consider DHA as an adjunct agent in H.pylori eradication treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determination of dislocation density from hardness measurements in metals
TL;DR: In this article, the Nix-Gao model was used to estimate the dislocation density in a metal, using Ni as a case study, compared with the values obtained from direct observation by transmission electron microscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
One-pot synthesis of triangular gold nanoplates allowing broad and fine tuning of edge length
Adelaide Miranda,Eliana Malheiro,Elżbieta Skiba,Pedro Quaresma,Patricia Almeida Carvalho,Peter Eaton,Baltazar de Castro,John A. Shelnutt,John A. Shelnutt,Eulália Pereira +9 more
TL;DR: Study of the mechanism of formation of the nanoplates by UV-vis and by transmission electron microscopy shows that there is a first stage where formation of 5 nm seeds takes place, further growth is probably by fusion and by direct reduction of gold onto the preformed nanoparticles.
