Dabigatran versus warfarin in the treatment of acute venous thromboembolism
Sam Schulman,Clive Kearon,Ajay K. Kakkar,Patrick Mismetti,Sebastian Schellong,Henry Eriksson,David Baanstra,Janet Schnee,Samuel Z. Goldhaber,S. Schul +9 more
TL;DR: For the treatment of acute venous thromboembolism, a fixed dose of dabigatran is as effective as warfarin, has a safety profile that is similar to that of warfar in, and does not require laboratory monitoring.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of a retrievable inferior vena cava filter plus anticoagulation vs anticoagulation alone on risk of recurrent pulmonary embolism: a randomized clinical trial.
Patrick Mismetti,Silvy Laporte,Olivier Pellerin,Pierre-Vladimir Ennezat,Francis Couturaud,Antoine Elias,Nicolas Falvo,Nicolas Meneveau,Isabelle Quéré,Pierre-Marie Roy,Olivier Sanchez,Jeannot Schmidt,Christophe Seinturier,Marie-Antoinette Sevestre,Jean-Paul Beregi,Bernard Tardy,Philippe Lacroix,Emilie Presles,Alain Leizorovicz,Hervé Decousus,Fabrice-Guy Barral,Guy Meyer +21 more
TL;DR: Among hospitalized patients with severe acute pulmonary embolism, the use of a retrievable inferior vena cava filter plus anticoagulation compared with anticogulation alone did not reduce the risk of symptomatic recurrent pulmonary emblism at 3 months, and these findings do not support theUse of this type of filter in patients who can be treated with antICOagulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Six Months vs Extended Oral Anticoagulation After a First Episode of Pulmonary Embolism: The PADIS-PE Randomized Clinical Trial
Francis Couturaud,Olivier Sanchez,Gilles Pernod,Patrick Mismetti,Patrick Jego,Elisabeth Duhamel,Karine Provost,Claire Bal dit Sollier,Emilie Presles,Philippe Castellant,Florence Parent,Pierre-Yves Salaun,Luc Bressollette,Michel Nonent,Philippe Lorillon,Philippe Girard,Karine Lacut,Marie Guegan,Jean-Luc Bosson,Silvy Laporte,Christophe Leroyer,Hervé Decousus,Guy Meyer,Dominique Mottier +23 more
TL;DR: An additional 18 months of treatment with warfarin reduced the composite outcome of recurrent venous thrombosis and major bleeding compared with placebo among patients with a first episode of unprovoked pulmonary embolism, but benefit was not maintained after discontinuation of anticoagulation therapy.
Journal Article
Antiplatelet agents in the perioperative period: expert recommendations of the French Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (SFAR) 2001--summary statement
Charles Marc Samama,Olivier Bastien,François Forestier,Marie-Hélène Denninger,Christian Isetta,Jean-Michel Juliard,Dominique Lasne,Didier Leys,Patrick Mismetti,Intensive Care +9 more
TL;DR: Anesthesiologists should be aware of the indications, potential complications and means of substitution of these agents and should not be withdrawn for most vascular procedures and in several additional settings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of venous and arterial thrombosis according to type of antiphospholipid antibodies in adults without systemic lupus erythematosus: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Quitterie Reynaud,Jean-Christophe Lega,Jean-Christophe Lega,Patrick Mismetti,Céline Chapelle,Denis Wahl,Pascal Cathébras,Silvy Laporte +7 more
TL;DR: LA and aCL were significantly associated with an increased risk of thrombosis, especially arterial, in patients without SLE, and the presence of low-quality studies may have led to overestimation of the magnitude of the associations.
