Gasometric determination of carboxyl groups in free amino acids
TL;DR: The method here presented depends on the fact that a-amino acids, when boiled in water with an excess of ninhydrin (triketohydrindene hydrate) at pH 1 to 5, evolve the CO2 of their carboxyl groups quantitatively in a few minutes.
Journal ArticleDOI
The gasometric determination of free amino acids in blood filtrates by the ninhydrin-carbon dioxide method

Measurement of specific gravities of whole blood and plasma by standard copper sulfate solutions
Robert A. Phillips,Donald D. Van Slyke,Paul B. Hamilton,Vincent P. Dole,Kendall Emerson,Reginald M. Archibald +5 more
TL;DR: The specific gravity measurements are carried out by letting drops of plasma or whole blood fall into a graded series of copper sulfate solutions of known specific gravities, and noting whether the drops rise or fall in the solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determination of free amino acids by titration of the carbon dioxide formed in the reaction with ninhydrin
TL;DR: In the present method, the CO2 evolved by decarboxylating amino acids with ninhydrin is transferred to standard barium hydroxide and titrated as mentioned in this paper.
