Journal ArticleDOI
E.A.O. guidelines fo the use of diagnostic imaging in implant dentistry. A consensus workshop organized by the European Association for Osseointegration in Trinity College Dublin.
David Harris,Daniel Buser,Karl Dula,Kerstin Gröndahl,Reinhilde Jacobs,Ulf Lekholm,Richard Nakielny,Daniel van Steenberghe,Paul F. van der Stelt +8 more
TL;DR: Buser et al. as mentioned in this paper presented an overview of the relationship between periodontology and oral and maxillofacial radiology in the context of CT/MR imaging. But the authors did not discuss the role of the periodontal lesions in their work.
Journal ArticleDOI
Calcium supplementation reduces vertebral bone loss in perimenopausal women: a controlled trial in 248 women between 46 and 55 years of age.
Petra J. M. Elders,J. Coen Netelenbos,Paul Lips,Floris C. van Ginkel,Edwin Khoe,Oscar R. Leeuwenkamp,Wil H. L. Hackeng,Paul F. van der Stelt +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that calcium supplementation retards lumbar bone loss in the first year of calcium supplementation by reducing bone turnover, however, the effect on lumbr bone loss over a longer time span is still uncertain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of Five Cone Beam Computed Tomography Systems for the Detection of Vertical Root Fractures
TL;DR: This study compared the accuracy of cone beam computed tomography scans made by five different systems in detecting vertical root fractures (VRFs) and assessed the influence of the presence of root canal filling, CBCT slice orientation selection, and the type of tooth (premolar/molar) on detection accuracy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Accuracy of three-dimensional measurements obtained from cone beam computed tomography surface-rendered images for cephalometric analysis: influence of patient scanning position
TL;DR: In this article, the accuracy of linear measurements on 3D surface-rendered images generated from cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in comparison with two-dimensional (2D) slices and 2D lateral and postero-anterior (PA) projections was evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnosing osteoporosis by using dental panoramic radiographs: the OSTEODENT project
Hugh Devlin,Keti Karayianni,Anastasia Mitsea,Reinhilde Jacobs,Christina Lindh,Paul F. van der Stelt,Elizabeth Marjanovic,Judith E. Adams,Sue Pavitt,Keith Horner +9 more
TL;DR: Chi-squared automatic interaction detection analysis showed that the cortical porosity was a poorer predictor of osteoporosis than mandibular cortical width and the test is therefore only recommended in triage screening of individuals by using radiographs made for purposes other than osteopsorosis.
