Journal ArticleDOI
Plant cellular and molecular responses to high salinity.
TL;DR: Evidence for plant stress signaling systems is summarized, some of which have components analogous to those that regulate osmotic stress responses of yeast, some that presumably function in intercellular coordination or regulation of effector genes in a cell-/tissue-specific context required for tolerance of plants.
Journal ArticleDOI
SIZ1-Mediated Sumoylation of ICE1 Controls CBF3/DREB1A Expression and Freezing Tolerance in Arabidopsis
Kenji Miura,Jing Bo Jin,Jiyoung Lee,Chan Yul Yoo,Vicki Stirm,Tomoko Miura,Edward N. Ashworth,Ray A. Bressan,Dae-Jin Yun,Paul M. Hasegawa +9 more
TL;DR: SIZ1-dependent sumoylation of ICE1 may activate and/or stabilize the protein, facilitating expression of CBF3/DREB1A and repression of MYB15, leading to low temperature tolerance.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Arabidopsis SUMO E3 ligase SIZ1 controls phosphate deficiency responses
Kenji Miura,Ana Rus,Altanbadralt Sharkhuu,Shuji Yokoi,Athikkattuvalasu S. Karthikeyan,Kashchandra G. Raghothama,Dongwon Baek,Yoon Duck Koo,Jing Bo Jin,Ray A. Bressan,Dae-Jin Yun,Paul M. Hasegawa +11 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that AtSIZ1 is a SUMO E3 ligase and that sumoylation is a control mechanism that acts both negatively and positively on different Pi deficiency responses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of protease inhibitors and plant defense
TL;DR: Current evidence suggests that the production of the inhibitors occurs via the octadecanoid pathway, which catalyzes the breakdown of linolenic acid and the formation of jasmonic acid to induce protease inhibitor gene expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sumoylation of ABI5 by the Arabidopsis SUMO E3 ligase SIZ1 negatively regulates abscisic acid signaling.
TL;DR: Evidence is presented that the SUMO E3 ligase SIZ1 negatively regulates abscisic acid (ABA) signaling, which is dependent on the bZIP transcripton factor ABI5, and that Siz1 represses ABA5 signaling function independent of AFP1.
