Journal ArticleDOI
New devices in heart failure: an European Heart Rhythm Association report: developed by the European Heart Rhythm Association; endorsed by the Heart Failure Association.
Karl-Heinz Kuck,Pierre Bordachar,Martin Borggrefe,Giuseppe Boriani,Haran Burri,Francisco Leyva,Patrick Schauerte,Dominic A.M.J. Theuns,Bernard Thibault,Paulus Kirchhof,Gerhard Hasenfuss,Kenneth Dickstein,Christophe Leclercq,Cecilia Linde,Luigi Tavazzi,Frank Ruschitzka +15 more
TL;DR: This task force believes that an overview on potential device options in addition to optimal medical therapy will be helpful for all physicians treating HF patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Atrial high-rate episodes and stroke prevention.
A. John Camm,Emmanuel N. Simantirakis,Andreas Goette,Gregory Y.H. Lip,Gregory Y.H. Lip,Panos E. Vardas,Melanie Calvert,Gregory Chlouverakis,Hans-Christoph Diener,Paulus Kirchhof,Paulus Kirchhof +10 more
TL;DR: Clinical trials of OAC therapy are being conducted to determine whether therapeutic intervention would be beneficial to patients experiencing atrial high-rate episodes (AHRE) in terms of reducing the risk of stroke.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electro-anatomic mapping systems in arrhythmias.
TL;DR: The use of electroanatomic mapping systems in AF is currently based on integration of anatomic images of the left atrium and non-fluoroscopic visualization of the ablation catheter, mainly driven by safety considerations such as shorter fluoroscopy and procedure times, or visualization of cardiac and extra-cardiac structures that need to be protected during the procedure.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Introduction to Murine Models of Atrial Fibrillation
TL;DR: Genetically altered murine models of atrial fibrillation are reviewed to enable a better understanding of the mechanisms of AF and the assessment of novel therapeutic interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrocardiographic risk stratification in families with congenital long QT syndrome.
Gerold Mönnig,Lars Eckardt,H. Wedekind,Wilhelm Haverkamp,Joachim Gerss,Peter Milberg,Kristina Wasmer,Paulus Kirchhof,Gerd Assmann,Günter Breithardt,Eric Schulze-Bahr +10 more
TL;DR: QTc is the best diagnostic and prognostic ECG parameter in LQTS families and a single measurement should be obtained in lead II if measurable and then in left precordial leads (preferably V5) as a second choice.
