Anterior T-Wave Inversion Does Not Convey Short-Term Sudden Death Risk: Inverted Is the New Normal
Paulus Kirchhof,Larissa Fabritz +1 more
TL;DR: Early detection of individuals at risk is needed to prevent sudden arrhythmic death in younger adults as discussed by the authors, however, it is a bit like looking for a golden needle in the haystack.

Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical characteristics of heart failure patients undergoing atrial fibrillation ablation today in Europe. Data from the atrial fibrillation registries of the European Society of Cardiology and the European Heart Rhythm Association
Pier Luigi Temporelli,Roland Tilz,Elena Arbelo,Nikolaos Dagres,Cécile Laroche,Harry J.G.M. Crijns,Carina Blomström-Lundqvist,Paulus Kirchhof,Paulus Kirchhof,Gregory Y.H. Lip,Gregory Y.H. Lip,Giuseppe Boriani,Evengy Pokushalov,Eleni Nakou,Josep Brugada,Luigi Tavazzi +15 more
TL;DR: Clinical characteristics of heart failure patients undergoing atrial fibrillation ablation today in Europe with a history of prior heart failure are studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
First Report on an Inotropic Peptide Activating Tetrodotoxin-Sensitive, “Neuronal” Sodium Currents in the Heart
Paulus Kirchhof,Tzachy Tal,Larissa Fabritz,Jan Klimas,Nir Nesher,Jan S. Schulte,Petra Ehling,Tatayana Kanyshkova,Thomas Budde,Sigrid Nikol,Lisa Fortmueller,Birgit Stallmeyer,Frank U. Müller,Eric Schulze-Bahr,Wilhelm Schmitz,Eliahu Zlotkin,Uwe Kirchhefer +16 more
TL;DR: The pilot experiments suggest that selective activation of tetrodotoxin-sensitive neuronal sodium channels can safely increase cardiac contractility, and the peptide described here may become a lead compound for a new class of positive inotropic agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increased atrial effectiveness of flecainide conferred by altered biophysical properties of sodium channels.
Sian O' Brien,Andrew B. Holmes,Daniel M. Johnson,S. Nashitha Kabir,C. O' Shea,Molly O' Reilly,Adelisa Avezzù,Jasmeet S. Reyat,Amelia W. Hall,Clara Apicella,Patrick T. Ellinor,Steven A. Niederer,Nathan R. Tucker,Larissa Fabritz,Paulus Kirchhof,Davor Pavlovic +15 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors demonstrate intrinsic differences between atrial and ventricular cardiac voltage-gated sodium currents (INa), leading to reduced maximum upstroke velocity of action potential and slower conduction, in left atria compared to ventricle.
