Journal ArticleDOI

Berberine protects against 6-OHDA-induced neurotoxicity in PC12 cells and zebrafish through hormetic mechanisms involving PI3K/AKT/Bcl-2 and Nrf2/HO-1 pathways.

TL;DR: The results demonstrated that BBR induced a typical hormetic response in PC12 cells, and strongly suggested that the neuroprotection of BBR were attributable to the hormetic mechanisms via activating cell survival and antioxidant signaling pathways.
Journal ArticleDOI

Medicinal compounds with antiepileptic/anticonvulsant activities.

TL;DR: This article aims to review components in herbal medicines that have shown antiepileptic or anticonvulsant properties and places emphasis on the plant crude extracts or their isolated fractions, not pure active compounds derived from herbal medicines.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phytochemical and phytopharmacological review of Perilla frutescens L. (Labiatae), a traditional edible-medicinal herb in China.

TL;DR: This review aims to present the findings of research conducted up-to-date on the traditional use, phytochemicals, pharmacological activities and toxicities of P. frutescens to provide scientific evidence for well-understanding and future research of the plant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification and quantification of 13 components in Angelica sinensis (Danggui) by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry coupled with pressurized liquid extraction

TL;DR: In this paper, the contents of 13 compounds including ferulic acid, Z-ligustilide, E-linearide, Z-, E-butylidene4-hydroxyphthalide and 6,7-dihydroxyligustilides were determined or estimated by using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry coupled with pressurized liquid extraction (PLE).
Journal ArticleDOI

Simultaneous determination of ergosterol, nucleosides and their bases from natural and cultured Cordyceps by pressurised liquid extraction and high-performance liquid chromatography

TL;DR: A simple method is described for the simultaneous determination of ergosterol, nucleosides and their bases in Cordyceps using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) using a Zorbax NH2 analytical column.
