Wideband, lowloss, low-cost, quasi-TEM metamaterial-based local waveguides in air gaps between parallel metal plates

TL;DR: The ridge gap waveguide as discussed by the authors is a waveguide appearing in the air gap between two parallel metal plates, where one of the plates has a metal texture, and confined local waves follow ridges in the texture whereas they are prohibited from propagating in other directions by metal pins.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

OTA measurements of wireless stations in reverberation chamber versus anechoic chamber: from accuracy models to testing of MIMO systems

TL;DR: In this article, the fundamental characteristics of different wave propagation environments (such as Rayleigh fading, Rice fading, and polarization balance; coherence bandwidth and time delay spread; and fading speed, coherence time and Doppler spread), and relate these characteristics to the Line-Of-Sight (LOS) emulated by good anechoic chambers, and the rich isotropic multipath environment emulating by good reverberation chambers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improvement of an octave bandwidth bowtie antenna design based on the analysis of a MIMO efficiency metric in random-LOS

TL;DR: A multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) efficiency metric based on the probability of detection (PoD) of data bitstreams is used to improve the design of a self‐grounded dual‐polarized wideband bowtie antenna over an octave bandwidth.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Mutual Coupling on LTE MIMO Capacity for Monopole Array: Comparing Reverberation Chamber Tests and Drive Tests

TL;DR: In this article, a comparison between the measured mutual coupling effect on the ergodic channel capacity of a $2 \times 2$ MIMO system in a reverberation chamber and in a suburban outdoor environment (i.e., Rician channel) at Long Term Evolution (LTE) radio band 13.

About measurements in reverberation chamber and isotropic reference environment

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the need for a reference environment for the characterization of small antennas intended to be used in multipath, and the conclusion is that a good choice is the rich isotropic multipath environment as emulated by a well designed reverberation chamber, or possibly by a spherical array of antennas in an anechoic chamber.
