TL;DR: After reviewing the CoIIN model, this work describes its key elements based on the coIIN to Reduce Infant Mortality, or IM CoIin, an initiative led by HRSA and the National Institute for Children’s Health Quality that illustrates how a CoIIn can be implemented to achieve results in a population health.
Abstract: In medicine and public health, we often confront highly complex, persistent challenges that have both multiple causes and potential levers for action. In pediatrics, this is particularly true, as promoting children’s optimal health requires an attention to life course—outcomes decades removed from intervention—as well as to issues within and beyond health care such as housing, education, and safety. If we are to make headway on such challenges, we must be open to approaches that might facilitate success in novel ways. Collaborative Improvement and Innovation Networks (CoIINs) hold promise for public health and health professionals working to address complex problems related to children’s health by combining distinctive features of 3 key methods for change— collaborative learning, collaborative innovation networks, and quality improvement (QI). After reviewing the CoIIN model, we describe its key elements based on the CoIIN to Reduce Infant Mortality, or IM CoIIN, an initiative led by HRSA and the National Institute for Children’s Health Quality that illustrates how a CoIIN can be implemented to achieve results in a population health

TL;DR: It is found that blogs predict better in China than they do in the United States, as it might still be a major social media tool for Chinese firms; while for the US firms, blogs have been supplemented by Twitter and Wikipedia.
Abstract: This paper compares a firm's innovation and performance with its online Web presence measured through the Web network structure. 489 firms in five different industries listed on the United States and Chinese stock markets are investigated. Using Web link data collected from Bing, blogs, Twitter and Wikipedia, we find positive correlation between betweenness centrality of a firm in the Web network and its innovation capability; and between betweenness centrality and financial performance. In order to get more accurate forecasting results, regression analysis is done for each industry and the combined industries in the United States and China. We also find that Twitter and Wikipedia only predict a firm's performance in the United States, which is not surprising as they are officially blocked in China. Blogs predict better in China than they do in the United States, as it might still be a major social media tool for Chinese firms; while for the US firms, blogs have been supplemented by Twitter and Wikipedia.

TL;DR: The historical networks of the World's leaders since the beginning of written history are analyzed, comparing them in the different Wikipedias and assessing cultural chauvinism.
Abstract: In this paper we study the differences in historical World View between Western and Eastern cultures, represented through the English, the Chinese, Japanese, and German Wikipedia. In particular, we analyze the historical networks of the World's leaders since the beginning of written history, comparing them in the different Wikipedias and assessing cultural chauvinism. We also identify the most influential female leaders of all times in the English, German, Spanish, and Portuguese Wikipedia. As an additional lens into the soul of a culture we compare top terms, sentiment, emotionality, and complexity of the English, Portuguese, Spanish, and German Wikinews.

TL;DR: This study uses the approach of directly observing culture-specific behavior that emerges from online collaboration on the Internet to identify distinct cultural dimensions of collectivism, extraversion, boldness, and egalitarianism in Wikipedia editors.
Abstract: Understanding online culture is becoming crucial in the global and connected world. Contrary to conventional attitudinal surveys used in cultural research, this study uses the approach of directly observing culture-specific behavior that emerges from online collaboration on the Internet. The editing data of Wikipedia were analyzed in 12 languages. Distinctive cultural dimensions were identified, including collectivism, extraversion, boldness, and egalitarianism. Using network analysis, the language-framed cultural factors were extracted as an emergent phenomenon in the virtual world.

TL;DR: The 5th annual international conference on Collaborative Innovation Networks Conference (COINS) takes place at Keio University from March 12 to 14, 2015 and looks at the emerging forces behind the phenomena of open-source, creative, entrepreneurial and social movements.
Abstract: The 5th annual international conference on Collaborative Innovation Networks Conference (COINS) takes place at Keio University from March 12 to 14, 2015. COINS15 brings together practitioners, researchers and students of the emerging science of collaboration to share their work, learn from each other, and get inspired through creative new ideas. Where science, design, business and art meet, COINS15 looks at the emerging forces behind the phenomena of open-source, creative, entrepreneurial and social movements. Through interactive workshops, professional presentations, and fascinating keynotes, COINS15 combines a wide range of interdisciplinary fields such as social network analysis, group dynamics, design and visualization, information systems, collective action and the psychology and sociality of collaboration.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the social network structure of people talking about Crohn's disease, Cystic Fibrosis, and Type 1 diabetes on Facebook and Twitter, and found that the contributors are most emotional on Twitter and most negative on Facebook while the T1D community's communication network structure was most cohesive.
