Target specificity of the CRISPR-Cas9 system
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a novel approach for the detection of cancer using the National Institutes of Health (U.S.) grant RO1-GM34277, 2017.
Journal ArticleDOI
Iron and Zinc Homeostasis and Interactions: Does Enteric Zinc Excretion Cross-Talk with Intestinal Iron Absorption?
TL;DR: The available evidence is critically reviewed to hypothesize novel mechanism of Zinc-DMT1/FPN1 axis in regulating intestinal iron absorption and tissue iron accumulation to facilitate future research aimed at understanding the yet elusive mechanisms of iron and zinc interactions.

A gene chimaera of SV40 and mouse β-globin is transcribed and properly spliced
Gilbert Chu,Phillip A. Sharp +1 more
TL;DR: A gene chimaera of the first exon from simian virus 40 (SV40) sequences coding for T antigen placed upstream from the thirdExon from mouse β-globin, and separated by the resultant new chimaeric intron, was cloned into a bacterial plasmid, suggesting that a donor site from one gene can be spliced to an acceptor site from another gene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quercetin-iron chelates are transported via glucose transporters
TL;DR: It is shown that quercetin concentrations of <1μM can facilitate chelatable iron shuttling via GLUT1 in either direction across the cell membrane, which might be usefully harnessed in chelotherapy of iron-overload conditions.
