TL;DR: This is the first randomized trial finding an effect of a long-term dietary intervention on breast cancer incidence and suggests a beneficial effect of the Mediterranean diet supplemented with extra-virgin olive oil in the primary prevention of breast cancer.

TL;DR: Both the traditional Mediterranean diet and a low-fat diet exerted beneficial effects on BP and could be part of advice to patients for controlling BP, however, lower values of diastolic BP were found in the two groups promoting the Mediterranean diet with extra virgin olive oil or with nuts than in the control group.

TL;DR: The statistically significant increases in plasma NO were associated with a reduction in systolic and diastolic BP levels, adding to the growing evidence that polyphenols might protect the cardiovascular system by improving the endothelial function and enhancing endothelial synthesis of NO.
